Islamabad, 15 November 2023 – The Embassy of Belgium and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are happy to celebrate together the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Pakistan.
The historical ties between Belgium and Pakistan have deepened over the past 75 years, with numerous pivotal moments in their diplomatic relations:
Belgium was among the first countries to recognize the newly-formed Pakistan after its independence in 1947, setting the stage for a long and fruitful partnership.
Over the years, Belgium and Pakistan have enjoyed mutually beneficial economic cooperation. Belgian companies have invested in various sectors in Pakistan, contributing to the country’s economic growth.
Both nations have engaged in cultural and academic exchanges, promoting a better understanding of each other’s cultures and traditions. This exchange has included student scholarships and cultural exhibitions.
Charles Delogne, Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan, declared today that “The two countries do not only share a successful common past but also look forward to a better common future. Both nations commit themselves to further strengthen their relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.”
