Professor Doctor Khalid Khan, member of COVID-19 Task Force of Government of Pakistan has said that no one should be allowed to launch a medicine in the name of Corona Treatment unless the medicine is testified on a number of patients and double checked by medical journals. A medicine that proves to be good for one person is not necessarily fit for all. Especially in case of Corona, every patient may have different state of immunity.
He shared this in a meeting on 02 Feb 2021 held in Islamabad, arranged by youth leader Qaiser Nawab who was also present at the occasion.
Khalid Khan is professor at Granada University of Spain and also has study , research in UK. In the wake of COVID , in Pakistan, the Government , noticing his experience, contacted him to invite to join the above mentioned task force that he accepted with a national spirit and determination to do something for humanity.
Dr Khalid Khan took our hard questions with patience and replied in well thought and calculated manner to our satisfaction.
He said that Pakistan was the first to initiate Protective Study on COVID first of all countries of the world. Other nations started it when COVID was at the peak there while Pakistan started it when COVID was about to come. We are doing Adaptive Study Trials in this study in a scientific manner. We will find out which one or two or all among Anti -Biotic, Anti-Viral, Anti-Malarial will be suitable for treatment. The finding will be shared with preferably international medical journal to have double check. After confirmation from the medical journal , the treatment can be finalized, approved and introduced to hospitals.
” We have 10 hospitals attached to University of Health Sciences. The number of patients under our observation are more than 500. They belong to all age groups and gender. Many of them recovered and the remaining are under treatment.” Dr Khalid Khan continued.
To a question about the conspiracy theories about COVID-19, Dr Khalid Khan replied ” I cant comment on these theories but i can say that in the beginning , country like UK even did not take it serious. They decided that let herd immunity be produced among the people. But later they had to impose strict lock down.”
“It is also wrong perception that no pandemic spread all over the world so far in the history. Spanish Flu gripped many countries in Europe during World War 1 and caused countless deaths. Yes it was not world over but the reason for that was people at that time were not travelling around the globe frequently.” He emphasized.
(The great influenza pandemic of 1918-19, often called the Spanish flu, caused about 50 million deaths worldwide; far more than the deaths from combat casualties in the World War One (1914-18). In fact, it may have killed between 3% and 6% of the global population.)
