Palestine calls for binding mechanisms to ensure the protection of the existing historical, legal and political status of Jerusalem and its sanctity

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine welcomes the positions of states, and regional and international groups in the emergency session of the Security Council that was held yesterday, which clearly affirmed the rejection of attempts or prejudice to the existing historical, legal and political reality of the occupied city of Jerusalem, especially the holy sites, foremost of which are the Noble Sanctuary, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and expressed its expression Its rejection of illegal unilateral measures and affirmed its adherence to the two-state solution and its keenness to launch a real peace process leading to the embodiment of the State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Ministry also welcomes the international consensus that emerged during the preparation for the session, during it, and after it to reject the extremist Minister Bin Ghafir’s storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and considered it incitement and provocation, which falls within the framework of his positions aimed at changing the bleak situation.
The Ministry affirms its continuous demand to translate these positions into actions and measures to ensure that the violations of the Israeli colonial occupation and the crimes of Ben Gvir and his followers are not repeated, and that the legal and historical statuses do not change Christian and Islamic sanctities.
The Ministry thanks all brotherly and friendly countries, and regional groups that contributed to the success of holding this session in this exceptional circumstance. The two brotherly countries also thank the United Arab Emirates and the People’s Republic of China for their adoption and support of the joint Palestinian-Jordanian request.
The Ministry expresses its absolute rejection of the misleading narrative of the colonial occupation authority that came from its representative in the United Nations, and believes that it is a clear attempt against the international system, in order to delegitimize the international body that granted it legitimacy. And calls on the countries of the world to reject this false narrative.
The Foreign Ministry also affirmed that it will continue to build on this international consensus as a strong beginning to deepen and expand the international front rejecting the extremist plans of the Netanyahu government. Putting an end to the occupation state’s impunity from accountability, accountability, and punishment constitutes the correct approach to correcting the international track in its dealings with the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, and a step towards ending and dismantling the Israeli colonial occupation system, and banning the apartheid regime.
