Canadian authorities are not sharing the exact identity of the family but “Pakistan in the World” has learnt from the sources near to the family that the victim head of the family was Dr Salman Afzal, very highly professional Physiotherapist JPMC who belonged to Pakistan.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

Salman Afzal , his wife, his 15 year old daughter, an old woman, not still confirmed, she is mother or mother in law of Salman Afzal succumbed to injuries and died. Salman’s 9 year old son is in ICU. The terrorist, a 20 year old local has been arrested. \"\"<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

News.com.au reported that\u00a0 20-year-old suspect wearing a vest “like body armor” fled the scene on Sunday evening, and was arrested at a mall seven kilometers (four miles) from the intersection in London, Ontario where the attack happened, said Detective Superintendent Paul Waight.<\/h3>\n

Canada’s Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair described it as a “horrific act of Islamophobia.”<\/h3>\n

The names of the victims were not released, but they include a 74-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl — together representing three generations of the same family, according to London mayor Ed Holder.<\/h3>\n

“Let me be clear, this was an act of mass murder perpetrated against Muslims, against Londoners, rooted in unspeakable hatred,” said Holder.<\/h3>\n

The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Veltman, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.<\/h3>\n

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that he was “horrified” by the attack.<\/h3>\n

“To the Muslim community in London and to Muslims across the country, know that we stand with you. Islamophobia has no place in any of our communities. This hate is insidious and despicable – and it must stop,” he added.<\/h3>\n

At about 8:40 pm on Sunday (0040 GMT Monday), according to police, the five family members were walking together along a sidewalk when a black pick-up truck “mounted the curb and struck” them as they waited to cross the intersection.<\/h3>\n

The attack, which brought back painful memories of a Quebec City mosque mass shooting in January 2017 and a driving rampage in Toronto that killed 10 people in April 2018, drew swift condemnation.<\/h3>\n

“This is a terrorist attack on Canadian soil and must be treated as such,” Mustafa Farooq, the council’s president, told Radio Canada.<\/h3>\n

“Hate and Islamophobia have NO place in Ontario,” tweeted Ontario Premier Doug Ford. “These heinous acts of violence must stop.”<\/h3>\n

At the time, before the New Zealand mosque shootings in March 2019, it was the worst-ever attack on Muslims in the West.<\/h3>\n

Meanwhile in Toronto, a 28-year-old man who ploughed a rented van into pedestrians at high speed three years ago was found guilty in March of murdering 10 people and trying to kill 16 others.<\/h3>\n

Muslim family of four killed in ‘premeditated’ Canada truck attack (news.com.au)<\/a><\/p>\n

A man accused of killing four members of a Canadian Muslim family after running them over in his pickup truck, targeted them in an attack motivated by hate, police said on Monday.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Police in London, Ontario, citing witnesses, said that 20-year-old Nathaniel Veltman, jumped the curb in his vehicle on Sunday, struck five members of the family, ranging in age from 9 to 74, and then drove off at high speed.<\/h3>\n

Veltman, a resident of London who was arrested after the incident, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. He is due back in court on Thursday after being remanded to custody on Monday.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThere is evidence that this was a planned, premeditated act, motivated by hate,\u201d Detective Superintendent Paul Waight of the London police department told reporters.<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe believe the victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith,\u201d Waight said.<\/h3>\n

He added that police in London \u2014 200 km southwest of Toronto \u2014 were consulting with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and prosecutors about potentially filing terrorism charges.<\/h3>\n

The suspect does not have a criminal record, and is not known to be a member of a hate group, police said. He was arrested in a mall parking lot without incident while wearing a body-armor-type vest, police said. There is no evidence he had any accomplices. It was not immediately known if the suspect had hired a lawyer.<\/h3>\n

Police have not yet released the victims\u2019 names, but the London Free Press said that among the dead were Syed Afzaal, 46, his wife, Madiha Salman, 44, and their 15-year-old daughter, Yumnah Afzaal. Syed Afzaals 74-year-old mother, whose name is not yet confirmed, also died. Their 9-year-old son, Faez Afzaal, is in the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

The family immigrated from Pakistan about 14 years ago, according to media reports.<\/h3>\n

Eyewitness Paige Martin told reporters a black truck blasted past her and ran a red light as she was walking, and then she came upon the scene and saw \u201cchaos\u201d: \u201cIt was just absolutely like something that you never want to see.\u201d The attack was the worst against Canadian Muslims since a man gunned down six members of a Quebec City mosque in 2017.<\/h3>\n

London Mayor Ed Holder said it was the worst mass murder his city had ever seen.<\/h3>\n

\u201cWe grieve for the family, three generations of whom are now deceased,\u201d Holder told reporters. \u201cThis was an act of mass murder, perpetrated against Muslims, against Londoners, and rooted in unspeakable hatred.\u201d<\/h3>\n

By late evening on Monday, a steady stream of mourners was seen arriving near the scene of the attack, dropping off flowers and saying prayers. One placard read: \u201cWhen does it stop? Enough.\u201d A GoFundMe campaign in support of members of the victims\u2019 family had already raised almost C$120,000 in one hour.<\/h3>\n

A vigil has been organized at a local mosque on Tuesday night to remember the victims.<\/h3>\n

\u201cThis is a terrorist attack on Canadian soil, and should be treated as such,\u201d said Mustafa Farooq, head of the National Council of Canadian Muslims.<\/h3>\n

London, which has about 400,000 residents, has a large Muslim community and Holder said Arabic is the second-most-spoken language to English in the city.<\/h3>\n

The teenage girl who was killed \u201cwill be deeply missed by fellow students and staff at Oakridge Secondary School,\u201d according to a school statement.<\/h3>\n

One man who described himself as a neighbor in an interview with Global News, said he met with the family on holidays.<\/h3>\n

\u201cHe was a family guy, very much involved in the community, a regular member of our mosque, a really, really great father,\u201d the neighbor, who was not identified, said of Syed Afzaal.\"\"<\/h3>\n
