Salman&#8217;s 9 year old son is in ICU. The terrorist, a 20 year old local has been arrested. <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10604\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/canada-terrorism-10-e1623190475682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" \/><\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3>News.com.au reported that\u00a0 20-year-old suspect wearing a vest &#8220;like body armor&#8221; fled the scene on Sunday evening, and was arrested at a mall seven kilometers (four miles) from the intersection in London, Ontario where the attack happened, said Detective Superintendent Paul Waight.<\/h3>\n<h3>Canada&#8217;s Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair described it as a &#8220;horrific act of Islamophobia.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3>The names of the victims were not released, but they include a 74-year-old woman, a 46-year-old man, a 44-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl &#8212; together representing three generations of the same family, according to London mayor Ed Holder.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;Let me be clear, this was an act of mass murder perpetrated against Muslims, against Londoners, rooted in unspeakable hatred,&#8221; said Holder.<\/h3>\n<h3>The suspect, identified as Nathaniel Veltman, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.<\/h3>\n<h3>Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted that he was &#8220;horrified&#8221; by the attack.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;To the Muslim community in London and to Muslims across the country, know that we stand with you. Islamophobia has no place in any of our communities. This hate is insidious and despicable &#8211; and it must stop,&#8221; he added.<\/h3>\n<h3>At about 8:40 pm on Sunday (0040 GMT Monday), according to police, the five family members were walking together along a sidewalk when a black pick-up truck &#8220;mounted the curb and struck&#8221; them as they waited to cross the intersection.<\/h3>\n<h3>The attack, which brought back painful memories of a Quebec City mosque mass shooting in January 2017 and a driving rampage in Toronto that killed 10 people in April 2018, drew swift condemnation.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;This is a terrorist attack on Canadian soil and must be treated as such,&#8221; Mustafa Farooq, the council&#8217;s president, told Radio Canada.<\/h3>\n<h3>&#8220;Hate and Islamophobia have NO place in Ontario,&#8221; tweeted Ontario Premier Doug Ford. &#8220;These heinous acts of violence must stop.&#8221;<\/h3>\n<h3>At the time, before the New Zealand mosque shootings in March 2019, it was the worst-ever attack on Muslims in the West.<\/h3>\n<h3>Meanwhile in Toronto, a 28-year-old man who ploughed a rented van into pedestrians at high speed three years ago was found guilty in March of murdering 10 people and trying to kill 16 others.<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news.com.au\/breaking-news\/muslim-family-of-four-killed-in-premeditated-canada-truck-attack\/news-story\/f257d4b718e475cdf6372e0b6eae5534\">Muslim family of four killed in &#8216;premeditated&#8217; Canada truck attack (news.com.au)<\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"story-block\">\n<h3>A man accused of killing four members of a Canadian Muslim family after running them over in his pickup truck, targeted them in an attack motivated by hate, police said on Monday.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Police in London, Ontario, citing witnesses, said that 20-year-old Nathaniel Veltman, jumped the curb in his vehicle on Sunday, struck five members of the family, ranging in age from 9 to 74, and then drove off at high speed.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"story-block\">\n<h3>Veltman, a resident of London who was arrested after the incident, has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. He is due back in court on Thursday after being remanded to custody on Monday.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThere is evidence that this was a planned, premeditated act, motivated by hate,\u201d Detective Superintendent Paul Waight of the London police department told reporters.<\/h3>\n<div class=\"story-block\">\n<h3>\u201cWe believe the victims were targeted because of their Islamic faith,\u201d Waight said.<\/h3>\n<h3>He added that police in London \u2014 200 km southwest of Toronto \u2014 were consulting with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and prosecutors about potentially filing terrorism charges.<\/h3>\n<h3>The suspect does not have a criminal record, and is not known to be a member of a hate group, police said. He was arrested in a mall parking lot without incident while wearing a body-armor-type vest, police said. There is no evidence he had any accomplices. It was not immediately known if the suspect had hired a lawyer.<\/h3>\n<h3>Police have not yet released the victims\u2019 names, but the London Free Press said that among <em><strong>the dead were Syed Afzaal, 46, his wife, Madiha Salman, 44, and their 15-year-old daughter, Yumnah Afzaal. Syed Afzaals 74-year-old mother, whose name is not yet confirmed, also died. One placard read: \u201cWhen does it stop?
