Kabul; 07 Sep 2021 – Taliban of Afghanistan has announced acting government in contrary to speculations that the government will be formed on 09 Sep to mark the historic Nine Eleven day that was beginning of fall of Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Most of the members in the government are old stalwarts.<\/h3>\n

A spokesman for the militants said that Mullah Hasan Akhund\u00a0will be acting prime minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani will be acting interior minister,\u00a0Mullah Yaqoob will be acting defense minister\u00a0and Amir Khan Muttaqi will be acting\u00a0foreign minister.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

Mulla Abdul Ghani Barather was at the top in the news to be head of the government but he has become as deputy of Mullah Hassan Akhund. Mawlawi Hibatullah is\u00a0 absent in the new set up to the astonishment of many analysts.<\/h3>\n

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has announced who will be appointed to key government posts as the group assumes complete power over Afghanistan.<\/h3>\n

Despite\u00a0claims they would rule differently to the group’s repressive regime in the 1990s,<\/span> the list was filled with mostly old guard stalwarts.<\/h3>\n

In a statement released later on Tuesday, the Taliban’s supreme leader said the new government would be guided by Islamic Sharia law as interpreted by their fundamentalist ideology.<\/h3>\n

A spokesman for the militants said that Mullah Hasan Akhund\u00a0will be acting prime minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani will be acting interior minister,\u00a0Mullah Yaqoob will be acting defense minister\u00a0and Amir Khan Muttaqi will be acting\u00a0foreign minister.<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n

Aljazeera reports that Mullah Akhund is on a UN sanctions list and is the longtime head of the Taliban\u2019s powerful decision-making body Rehbari Shura, or leadership council. He was previously the foreign minister and then deputy prime minister during the Taliban\u2019s last stint in power from 1996-2001.<\/h3>\n

DW reports that Akhund has been the leader of the Taliban’s leadership council for decades. Yaqoob is the son of Taliban founder Mohammed Omar. Haqqani is the scion of a powerful family and leader of the brutal and powerful Haqqani network, which has become a suborganization of the Taliban in its own right. Muttaqi is an established part of the group’s diplomacy apparatus, representing the Islamist organization at UN-brokered peace negotiations.<\/h3>\n

The Taliban has not elaborated on how long the caretaker government will last, and did not mention plans to hold elections.<\/h3>\n

The list did not appear to include any non-Taliban figures, which had been demanded by the international community.<\/h3>\n

The Taliban\u00a0also reportedly disbanded the Ministry for Women’s\u00a0Affairs, days after violently clamping down on\u00a0woman-led protests against curbs to their freedoms under Taliban rule.<\/h3>\n

There are also no women in the new power structure, something protesters in Kabul had been calling for as women fear losing their hard-won rights.<\/h3>\n

Also suspiciously absent, Afghan journalist Ali Latifi told DW, is Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada, who is “the leader of the Taliban as far as we know.” Latifi said the omission gives credence to the rumors that the militant group’s supreme leader since 2016 is dead, despite assurances from the Taliban to the contrary.<\/h3>\n

Amir Khan Muttaqi will be the Foreign Minister.<\/h3>\n

Mullah Yaqoob will be the Defense Minister.<\/h3>\n

Sarajuddin Haqqani will be the Interior Minister.<\/h3>\n

Amir Khan Muttaqi will be the Foreign Minister.<\/h3>\n
