A dream came true on 10 Oct 2021 when National Logistics Cell succeeded in transporting first ever trade consignment in bilateral history to the capital of brotherly country Azerbaijan. Ambassador of Pakistan Mr. Bilal Hai received the truck of NLC in Baku where the local officials were also present to welcome the consignment. Businessmen community and\u00a0 media also attended the ceremony to observe and record the historic moment.<\/h3>\n

The National Logistics Cell (NLC) of Pakistan commenced first ever logistics transport operation from Pakistan to Azerbaijan under the TIR Convention on and completed in days. The NLC trucks departed from Karachi on 28th<\/sup>\u00a0September and reached Istanbul on 7th<\/sup> October covering a distance of 5300 Kilometers.<\/span><\/h3>\n

This is a pilot project under the Transports Internationaux Routiers (TIR) convention.The development is considered as a vital step in promoting connectivity and enhancing trade between Pakistan, Iran, Turkey\u00a0 and Azerbaijan.<\/h3>\n

National Logistics Cell (NLC) has completed first ever commercial road movement under TIR (Transports Internationaux Routiers or International Road Transports) to Turkey and Azerbaijan.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
Four vehicles loaded with textile products, tires and other export goods crossed Taftan for its onward journey to Turkey and Azerbaijan. Two vehicles reached Istanbul in ten days covering a distance of 4890 kilometers while the other two vehicles reached Baku in eight days by covering a distance of 3,680 kilometers.<\/div>\n

The vehicles successfully completed round trip carrying import goods including glass wool raw material and electronics, etc., to Lahore and Islamabad. The trucks returned to Pakistan within stipulated time of two weeks from Azeri capital Baku and Turkish city of Istanbul.<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

Reviving the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI-ECO) road transport corridor will generate revenue, boost trade and increase economic cooperation among the ECO member states. After this initial successful run, the NLC intends to increase and regularize transport of goods between Pakistan and Turkey, helping to bring the two countries further closer.<\/h3>\n

Earlier on 8 October 2021. A dignified ceremony was held\u00a0 at Murat Bey Customs Post in Istanbul to mark the arrival of the first two National Logistics Company (NLC) trucks carrying goods from Pakistan to Turkey, via Iran.\"\"<\/h3>\n

Senior officials of the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Ministry of Trade, Chamber of Commerce & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), International Road Transport Union (IRU), ECO Secretariat, Transport Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran, NLC, members and representatives of the Turkish private sector related to transport, and Pakistan Ambassador to Turkey, Muhammad Syrus Qazi accompanied by representatives of Pakistan Embassy and Consulate General participated in the ceremony. Mr. Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General of IRU, based in Geneva, also came to attend this ceremony.<\/h3>\n

Ambassador Syrys Qazi in his remarks highlighted the Government of Pakistan’s focus on geo-economics and how regional connectivity was crucial in this regard. He hailed this trial run of NLC trucks as a historic step that will strengthen road connectivity between Pakistan and Turkey and would also help in promotion of bilateral trade. The Ambassador noted that operationalization of this road link will help reduce the cost and time for transportation.<\/h3>\n
