We are ready to stand shoulder to shoulder with Uzbekistan in the face of global climate change and to develop cooperation in promising areas such as the development of &#8220;smart&#8221; cities, smart farms, ICT and electric cars. Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. At the online summit in January 2021, the leaders put forward a number of new and ambitious initiatives to further intensify interaction.<\/h4>\n<h4>This visit to Korea was a logical continuation of the active dialogue.<\/h4>\n<h4>The Uzbek leader stressed that the period itself requires a reconsideration of the priorities of the long-term practical partnership. Cooperation between the two countries must fully respond to today&#8217;s threats to the global economy.<\/h4>\n<h4>The Republic of Korea is one of the main trade and economic partners of Uzbekistan. In recent years, the number of exchanges and joint ventures has almost doubled. Despite the consequences of the pandemic, multifaceted relations are steadily developing.<\/h4>\n<h4>Uzbekistan and Korea have made significant progress in concluding a free trade agreement. At the meeting, it was expressed confidence that the signing of this document next year will provide an opportunity to increase and balance trade indicators.<\/h4>\n<h4>Korea has invested more than $ 7 billion in Uzbekistan. $ 320 million has been disbursed this year, which is 20 percent more than in 2020. These funds are used to implement joint projects in chemistry, petrochemistry, textiles, construction and agriculture.<\/h4>\n<h4>The long-term fruitful cooperation with the Eximbank of Korea and the Fund for Economic Development and Cooperation (EDCF) deserves special attention. For example, the amount of funding under this fund has reached $ 1 billion. It was proposed to develop all future joint projects, programs and action plans based on these key priorities.<\/h4>\n<h4>President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed that if Uzbekistan&#8217;s human capital and natural resources are combined with the advanced technologies and knowledge of the Republic of Korea, it will be possible to create a good ground for the development of products that are in high demand in the world market. In this regard, the head of state proposed to establish an Uzbek-Korean cluster for the development of semiconductors and electronics in Tashkent region with the involvement of the Fund for Economic Development (EDPF). It will be possible to locate science and education institutions, research and development centers in the field of advanced technologies.<br \/>\nThe parties noted that the activities of the Textile Technopark and the Center for Agricultural Machinery, established jointly in our country, will continue to be encouraged and developed in all directions.<\/h4>\n<h4>Uzbekistan is interested in using Korea&#8217;s achievements in the digital economy, artificial intelligence, &#8220;smart cities&#8221;, outsourcing, a new generation of communications and Internet technology in its operations.<\/h4>\n<h4>Our countries are cooperating in the fields of healthcare, preschool and higher education. As a result of the first large-scale joint project in medicine, the Children&#8217;s Multidisciplinary Clinic has been operating in Tashkent since last year.<\/h4>\n<h4>The Korean model of education is one of the most exemplary in the world. That is why the system of preschool education in our country has been completely reformed on the basis of the best practices and knowledge of colleagues in Korea.<\/h4>\n<h4>Emphasizing the importance of developing innovative cooperation between universities, the President of Uzbekistan suggested creating a permanent platform for their regular meetings and holding a forum of rectors of higher education institutions of the two countries next year.<\/h4>\n<h4>During the talks, it was noted that in the post-pandemic period, tourism may be the locomotive of economic growth.
