Islamabad: A seminar was organized by FM 98 Dosti Channel, China Media Group on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of One Belt One Highway Forum for International Cooperation in Islamabad. Speaking on the occasion, Hassan Dawood Butt, CEO, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment, said that C-Pack has created many opportunities for development in Pakistan, one of which is the Dera Ismail Khan-Hekla Motorway. With the completion of which a significant investment of Rs. 8 billion has been made initially in the field of industry and research around it.<\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He said that the port of Gwadar is fast approaching completion, while work has started on the second phase of C-Pack, thanks to which the science and technology sector in Pakistan is developing rapidly. Hassan Dawood Butt echoed Chinese leader Tung Xiaoping’s assertion that “we can cross the river with each other’s help,” adding that “we are capable of meeting every challenge of the future with full unity.”<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On the occasion, Dr. Mahmood Al-Hassan, Director, Center for South Asia and International Studies, said that the Western media was trying its best to influence the minds of the Pakistani people, calling C-Pack a dangerous trap. He said the One Belt One Highway initiative aims at global peace and co-operation, which has resulted in a 6.1 per cent increase in global trade. Mahmoud al-Hassan said that 82 economic zones are being built globally under one belt one highway, while millions of people in different countries have been lifted out of extreme poverty.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking at the seminar, Shakeel Ahmed Ramey, CEO, Asian Institute of Eco-Civilization Research and Development, said that industrial cooperation was being valued in the second phase of C-Pack, a pioneering project of One Belt One Highway and it was more business than government. On the occasion, Dr. Hina Aslam, Head, China Study Center, SDPI, said that special importance was being given to environment friendly technology in China and Pakistan wanted more cooperation from China in this regard. He said that environmental pollution and eco-friendly development must be taken into consideration in C-Pack projects. Dr. Hina Aslam said that she has started C-Pac Green Development Program with the help of Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, while work on C-Pac Green Alliance is in progress.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Addressing the seminar, Dr. Noor Muhammad Butt, former Chairman, Nanotechnology Development Board, said that a team of Chinese nuclear experts visited Pakistan in 1986 with the help of which 5 nuclear power plants were constructed in Pakistan. He said that 3 of them have been established in Chashma and 2 in Karachi. He said that China fully cooperated with Pakistan in the field of nanotechnology in 2012, which would play a significant role in Pakistan’s development.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

At the seminar, Ijaz Hussain, a former associate professor at Shanghai International Studies University, said that C-Pack is the only one of the six corridors of a one-lane highway which has been declared as two-way. He said relations between Iran and China have improved and China is investing 400 400 billion in Iran. Ejaz Hussain said that Pak-China relations have been going on for 71 years as compared to the recently established Sino-Iranian relations and it is very important to find out the reasons for limiting Chinese investment in Pakistan.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking on the occasion, Hina Chaudhry, a lecturer at Aird Agriculture University, said that the role of media is of utmost importance in relation to one-lane one-lane highway, as Western countries have always lamented in this regard.
