\"\"Islamabad: 31 July 2022 \/ Monitoring Desk – Conservative US author Ann Coulter has argued that the US and UK \u201chave [their] own problems\u201d and shouldn\u2019t care about Ukraine, which she pointed out was historically under Russian influence. With British broadcaster Piers Morgan vehemently disagreeing, Coulter blamed the expansion of the NATO alliance for the current conflict.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h5>\n
Speaking to Morgan on Thursday, Coulter declared \u201con the NATO thing, I\u2019m with Noam Chomsky, Pat Buchannan, George Kennan, once the Soviet Union fell there\u2019s no point to NATO, and we keep encroaching, encroaching, encroaching,\u201d<\/em> referring to the alliance\u2019s expansion into Eastern Europe since the fall of the USSR, something its leaders assured Russia it would not do.<\/h5>\n
Morgan, a staunch supporter of Ukraine who recently interviewed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and his wife Elena, argued otherwise, claiming that Russia\u2019s military operation in Ukraine proves \u201cthat\u2019s what NATO\u2019s there for.\u201d<\/em><\/h5>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Ukraine was historically part of the Russian empire of influence,\u201d<\/em> Coulter countered. \u201cI\u2019m not defending Putin\u2026 but why should Americans care about this? We have our own problems. Why should the British care about this?\u201d<\/em><\/h5>\n
Over Morgan accusing her of wanting \u201cthe Soviet Union back,\u201d<\/em> Coulter said that the UK should focus on reducing immigration, and while Morgan brought up American assistance to Britain during World War II, Coulter countered that Putin is \u201cnot attacking England.\u201d<\/em><\/h5>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t compare everything to Hitler,\u201d<\/em> Coulter sneered.<\/h5>\n
Coulter is known for her anti-interventionism, and threw her support behind then-candidate Donald Trump in 2016 after he vowed to end America\u2019s \u201cendless wars.\u201d Less than a week after Russian troops entered the country this February, she called on Republicans to \u201cstop talking about Ukraine.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/h5>\n
Claiming that support for Ukraine ultimately means more money for US defense contractors, she called on the party to do something about inflation, immigration, crime, and anti-white racism in schools.<\/h5>\n
