Islamabad-\"\"The General Elections for \u2018Islamabad Cycling Association – ICA\u2019 were held at Adventure\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Complex<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Garden Avenue,<\/span><\/span>Shakarparian National Park<\/span><\/span>, Islamabad<\/span><\/span>\u00a0on January 24, 2019. Dr. Haroon Roedad Khan as President, Mr. Muhammad Naeem Murtaza as Senior Vice President, Mr. Muhammad Haroon General as General Secretary & Mr. Bilal Abdul Razzaq as Finance Secretary along with other office bearers were elected\u00a0<\/span><\/span>during the elections.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Haroon Roedad Khan (President – Islamabad Cycling Association)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in his address said that cycling should be a way of life for in Islamabad. Islamabad can very quickly be transformed onto a cycle friendly city. He further<\/span><\/span>\u00a0stated that resilient efforts<\/span><\/span>\u00a0are to be under taken to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0make the Capital a safer cycling hub for members of the general public; and that the primary focus of the association\u00a0<\/span><\/span>will be<\/span><\/span>\u00a0to promote & develop the sport of cycling in the Capital, as not only being environment friendly, healthy & communal sport, but also as an alternate to motorized modes of transportation.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Muhammad Naeem Murtaza (Senior Vice President – Islamabad Cycling Association) added that a dedicated and combined struggle from a single platform such as ICA will reap better results than individual, disorganized efforts.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>He further added that the construction of a Cycling Velodrome for Islamabad will be one of the high priority agenda items.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Muhammad Haroon General (General Secretary – Islamabad Cycling Association) informed that permission\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has been\u00a0<\/span><\/span>sought<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>from<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the Pakistan Sports Board\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to conduct\u00a0<\/span><\/span>cycling races\u00a0<\/span><\/span>within the premises of the Islamabad Sports Complex<\/span><\/span>\u00a0once a month<\/span><\/span>; and the plan to organize cycling event in the coming month is already underway.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Also a strategy is being devised to start various cycling clubs\/teams in different schools of Islamabad.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Election Commissioner Mrs. Natalya Kamal, accompanied by Mr. Ramzan Qasuri (Associate Secretary \u2013 Islamabad Sports Board) & Mr. Nisar Ahmed (Vice President \u2013 Pakistan Cycling Federation) were present to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>conduct the election process. They wished the new executive committee all the best for the promotion of cycling<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

R<\/span><\/span>epresentations from all the registered groups of Islamabad (namely: Critical Mass Islamabad, MTB Islamabad, AeroCycling, The Do Good Mob, Islamabad Run With Us, Islamabad Roadies, Early Morning Riders &\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Crank Nation\/<\/span><\/span>Rolling Ibex) were available at the General Elections.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
