Today, Ethiopia is not an isolated nation but connecting the regions and continents to share the experiences and enhance cooperation for shared benefits. These views were observed during the celebration of ANKUTATASH, the Ethiopian New Year 2016 in Islamabad on 11 Sep 2023.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5 dir=\"auto\">H.E. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan hosted a grand reception that was graced by Caretaker Minister Commerce Dr Gauhar Ejaz as chief guest. Government of Pakistan&#8217;s officials, media, civil society, diplomatic corps and Ethiopian Diaspora were also invited to the colorful event celebrated with zeal and fervor.<\/h5>\n<h5 dir=\"auto\">H.E shared with the participants that Ethiopian year has 13 months that is why it is 2016 in our country. He invited the guests to visit his country and they will become 7 years younger than their age in Pakistan. Atadjan Movlamov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan and Dean of Diplomatic Corps to Pakistan, H.E. Mohammed Karmoune Ambassador of Kingdom of Morocco to Pakistan, Former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry H.E. Zafar Bakhtawari and others also attended the ceremony. Mr. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul General Ethiopia in Karachi was also present.<\/h5>\n<h5 dir=\"auto\">Minister Commerce spoke highly about the development of Ethiopia and efforts of H.E Jemal Beker as first Ambassador of FDR Ethiopia to Pakistan. He expressed his keen desire to build a trade cooperation with Ethiopia up to $500 Million in the near future. The existing volume of trade between two countries is $16 Million.<\/h5>\n<h5 dir=\"auto\">Dr Gauhar Ejaz was highly optimistic on rapid increase in the economic cooperation with Ethiopia. Every four years, this 13th month counts 6 days to account for a leap year. Jemal Beker said \u201cWhoever presents in this gathering today becomes seven years younger of his age.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5>He said on this day, all Ethiopians reaffirmed their unwavering faith in the core values that defined Ethiopia including love, forgiveness, unity, and harmony.<\/h5>\n<h5>The ambassador said Ethiopia had a unique place in human history as the land of origin, with the discovery of Lucy\u2014the human fossil believed to be one of our earliest ancestors. Our nation also takes pride in producing some of the world&#8217;s most exceptional athletes, and I am excited to announce plans to foster knowledge exchange between our athletes and our dear brotherly country in the realm of sports,\u201d the ambassador stressed.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<h5>He said the Ethiopian New Year of this year also marked completion of the first Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad which was a testament to the strengthening of the diplomatic ties between the two countries. Ambassador Jemal Beker Abdula for inviting him to the celebration ceremony and emphasized on the close relationship between the two nations in trade, investment, tourism and technology transfer. He highlighted the promising trade prospects between Pakistan and Ethiopia during the Ethiopian New Year celebration ceremony.<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n<h5>Dr. Ejaz noted and announced the opening of new Trade &amp; Investment Offices in several African countries as part of the Look Africa Policy Initiative, aiming to strengthen economic engagement with African nations.<\/h5>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"td_btn td_btn_lg td_shadow_btn\" style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>The staff of the Embassy and Diaspora , the ladies and the gentlemen were dressed in traditional dresses that were highly adorable for the Pakistani guests. Sunflowers were presented to all guests specially decorated in colorful ribbons. The food was fantastic as well. It consisted of dishes from Ethiopia. It was a fusion of Ethiopian Pakistani cousine. Ambassador distributed the year book that contains the information of the activities of the Embassy in last one first year in Pakistan.
