Ms. Jardine A. Husman, Deputy Director of Sharia Economic and Finance Department, Bank of Indonesia has said Indonesia and Pakistan can trade in their own currency (Dollar Less). Indonesia is doing trade with ASEAN countries in local currencies. Pakistan can also benefit from this facility.<\/strong> <\/span><\/h5>\n
The Bank is the main sponsor of Halal Expo along with Sharia Economic and Finance Festival held at Convention Center of Jakarta. Pakistani journalists had a meeting with her at the sidelines of the expo thanks to the support of Embassy of Indonesia in Islamabad on 25 Oct 2023.<\/h5>\n
The 10th year anniversary event of \u201cIndonesia Sharia Economic Festival\u201d\u00a0 (ISEF) in collaboration with Halal Expo Indonesia (HEI) is attracting thousands of stake holders including the industry and the customer from inside the country as well as from other parts of the world to Jakarta Convention Center where the Festival is presenting the Halal sector of economy, finance, food and fashion together under one roof from 25 to 29 Oct 2023 offline while it will continue online through Oct to Dec 2023. It is the largest and the most integrated event in Indonesia on the topic. The theme this year is \u201cAccelerating Sharia economy and finance through digitalization for inclusive and sustainable growth.\u201d<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Indonesian Vice President and Chairperson of the National Committee of Sharia Economy and Finance (KNEKS) Ma\u2019ruf Amin launched the Indonesian Halal Industry Master Plan (MPIHI) 2023\u20132029 at the opening of the 2023 Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) on Thursday, Oct. 26.<\/h5>\n
In our meeting with Ms Jardine Husman, we discussed different aspects of banking system of Indonesia, how it supports the citizens for startups and SMEs, what is its role in women empowerment, prospects of cooperation between Indonesia and Pakistan in banking sectors etc.<\/h5>\n
Ms Jardine Husman briefed us about how the Central Bank of Indonesia looks after the implementation of the monitory policy and supports the Sharia Economic and Finance as well as traditional banking.\"\"<\/h5>\n
She said that Indonesia has 2 systems of banking side by side. One is routine banking and the other is Sharia in which Mozaarbah and Moshaarkah are common. Mortgage and Financing is also available in our system.<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
To a question about how the mark up or prophet is handled , she replied that Bank will buy anything the customer intends to have, and later on, the bank will sell it to customer on his\/her convenience of payment. Bank earns a prophet in this deal.<\/h5>\n
The central bank looks into the monitory policy and shares information, experiences with all other banks. For Sharia , the central bank facilitates the implementation according to the policy guidelines. In this role, the central bank works as an authority to supervise the banks working in the country.\"\"<\/h5>\n
Noting the remarkable empowerment of women in Indonesia , I shared with Ms Jardine that in Pakistan , First Women Bank was established by the late and first woman Prime Minister in the Muslim World, Benazir Bhutto in late 90s. The bank was in connection with her vision for the empowerment of women. Here all staff from the President to the Cashier would be women only.<\/h5>\n
Ms Jardine Husman noted it pleasantly and said that there is good number of women working in Indonesian banks. Development of women is priority of Indonesian government. Women in Indonesia are supported by our banks for their small and medium enterprises.<\/h5>\n
“There is huge potential in the women of Indonesia that is being transformed into entrepreneurship. Government acknowledges the capabilities , the woman have in this sector, Ms Husman said.<\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/h5>\n
She said that the best way for the empowerment of women is to educate them upto higher level. Women should be trained with different skills. The education ministry gives scholarships to women who want to have higher education.<\/h5>\n
To a question about what is the ratio of default on bank loans in Indonesia, She answered that it is not the case in Indonesia. The ratio of return the loan is satisfactory. In our system, we have the history of the loan seeker. This history makes it clear that the person has good record or not. Then we decide on the loan.<\/h5>\n
On bilateral banking between Indonesia and Pakistan, She said, Pakistan is a big trade partner of Indonesia. Opening of a branch of Bank of Indonesia is possible in the near future. Presently both countries have collaborative payment system on both sides. Both countries can further expand and upgrade this collaboration.<\/h5>\n
