\"\"ISLAMABAD: The fourth Rectors Conference, organized by the Association of Private Sector Universities of Pakistan (APSUP) in collaboration with other institutions, successfully concluded on Saturday at COMSTECH. The conference was organized in collaboration with Superior University, COMSTECH, HEC, PHEC, Preston University, FAST University, IBADAT University, Abasyn University, University of Sialkot, My University, and IUCPSS.<\/strong><\/em><\/h5>\n
At the invitation of COMSTECH<\/span><\/a> management, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Yerzhan Kistafin, participated in the International Conference of Rectors as a guest of honor.<\/h5>\n
Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad<\/strong>, emphasized the need for Pakistani universities to network with universities around the world to find opportunities.He stressed the leadership of Pakistani universities and said, Shun the traditional mindset, network with the world, and grab the opportunity.<\/h5>\n
He said, \u201c70% of the resources in the world are in OIC, but we could not bet on their benefit due to the lack of networking.\u201d<\/h5>\n
He emphasized the need for action by the universities and said just signing memoranda of understandings is not enough.<\/h5>\n
Chairman HEC very rightly suggested the Rectors of Private Universities to correct their system and way of working if they are sincere in helping the government with their role in education sector. It is highly unfortunate that most of private universities do not carry a good reputation among the students and society. They are more degree issuing institutions than a full fledged universities with no own curriculum and with no research. Education from lower to higher level have become a business than a cause in Pakistan. Chairman of HEC knows it better.

Coordinator General of COMSTECH, Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary<\/strong>, emphasized the need for joint program formulation and initiation with the universities in OIC member states to share knowledge, expertise, and talent. He highlighted the role of COMSTECH in bringing the research institutions and universities of OIC states closer together to cooperate.<\/h5>\n
H.E. Mr. Y. Kistafin addressed the participants of the conference with a welcoming speech and spoke about the work carried out to strengthen cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, including in the field of education and the development of ties between universities.<\/h5>\n
During the event, the meeting of the Rector of Eurasian National University (ENU) headed by Rector Yerlan Sydykov, with the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed<\/span><\/a>, took place, along with meetings with the leadership of leading Pakistani universities. As a result, Memorandums of Understanding were signed with the University of Lahore (UoL), University of Sialkot (USKT) as well as the International Institute of Science, Arts, and Technology (IISAT).\"\"<\/strong><\/span><\/h5>\n
Furthermore, negotiations with COMSTECH General Coordinator Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry resulted in an agreement to implement practical measures aimed at further strengthening cooperation between universities.<\/h5>\n
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Kistafin,<\/strong> addressed the conference and said, \u201cHis country\u2019s main focus is education. He emphasized the need for enhancements in the level of literacy and awareness about the world and the security situation.\u201d<\/h5>\n
He informed me that his country is open to bilateral and regional cooperation.
\nHe emphasized the need for cooperation between the universities of Kazakhstan and the universities in OIC states.He hailed COMSTECH activities and the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr M. Iqbal Choudhary, the Coordinator General of COMSTECH.<\/h5>\n
Rector Superior University, Prof. Dr Sumaira Rehman<\/strong>, highlighted the background and objectives of the conference. She also highlighted the theme of the conference. President of APSUP, Prof. Dr Abdul Basit, also spoke at the occasion.<\/h5>\n
The Vice Chancellors and leadership of about 150 universities participated in this 3-day rector\u2019s conference.The delegation from seven OIC countries, under the facilitation of COMSTECH, also participated.COMSTECH is a contributing partner in the organization of this conference.<\/strong><\/h5>\n
