<\/p>\nIslamabad;The Federal Cabinet on Tuesday expressed the resolve to continue the\u00a0crackdown against terrorists under National Action Plan (NAP) to eventually\u00a0eliminate the menace from the country. Amendment will be done in Pakistan Penal Code empowering Counter Terrorism Department to deal with money laundering cases. Further Information Minister Fawad Hussain briefing media about cabinet session said that UK-EU countries do not extradite the accused to the countries where death sentence has not been abolished. He said we will bring amendment in PPC that will pave the way of extradition to Pakistan.<\/p>\n
It is being taken as if Pakistan is going to ban death penalty? Earlier when EU asked to eliminate death penalty as a condition to GSP for Pakistan, the then government took a stand that Pakistan is facing terrorism and it is not possible to ban death penalty if we have to get rid of terrorism.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Briefing the media about the decisions of the Federal Cabinet meeting, chaired\u00a0by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the government was moving fast to implement the National Action Plan, and it was not far when the scourge will be eradicated from\u00a0the country.<\/p>\n
The minister said external factors were involved in the terrorist incidents in\u00a0the country, and the government was close to completely destroy that network.<\/p>\n
Fawad Hussain said that full implementation of NAP was the yardstick to overcome incidents of terrorism and civil and military leadership had unanimous\u00a0view on the NAP implementation.<\/p>\n
He said that the Cabinet offered Fateha for the souls of the\u00a0 martyred in\u00a0Quetta blast.He said that after thorough debate on Assets Declaration Scheme, it was\u00a0noted that there was a need of further discussion and the prime minister had summoned a special meeting on Wednesday. The cabinet members, who\u00a0intend to give their input, would attend the meeting.<\/p>\n
Chaudhry Fawad\u00a0 said that the Federal Cabinet expressed serious\u00a0concerns over the ongoing money laundering cases and expressed the\u00a0resolve that the cases regarding money laundering would have logical\u00a0conclusion.<\/p>\n
He said that owing to the flawed policies of past rulers, the country\u00a0was facing inflation and economic crisis. He said that in the past, Sharif\u00a0family and Zardari were allegedly involved in large scale corruption,\u00a0loot and plunder.<\/p>\n
He said that sons of Nawaz Sharif, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and\u00a0Ishaq Dar were not coming to Pakistan to face cases in the courts.He said\u00a0 that 95 per cent assets declared by Sharif family were based\u00a0on telegraphic transfer (TT). He said that Cabinet members of the past\u00a0governments were also involved in mega scandals and some members\u00a0of the Muslim League-N cabinet got Iqamas from foreign countries to\u00a0launder money.<\/p>\n
He said as per investigation, $ 26 million were received by Shahbaz\u00a0Sharif family through TT whereas Nawaz Family got millions of dollars in\u00a0Al-Azizia Steel Mills .He said out of declared assets of Hamza Shebaz, 99 per cent were<\/p>\n
TT-based whereas his mother Nusrat Shehbaz had received 85 per cent\u00a0money from abroad through telegraphic transfer.<\/p>\n
He said that in just only one night, Rs 1.2 billion were transferred from\u00a0Hill Metal to Nawaz Sharif account and similarly Rs 820 million were\u00a0transferred in Mariam Nawaz account from which she used to buy\u00a0properties and assets.<\/p>\n
He made it clear that this investigation was not done during the PTI\u00a0government tenure.<\/p>\n
About Pakistan Steel Mills, he said it was not suffering losses before\u00a0the PPP government. He said that six major investors had offered to invest\u00a0in Steel Mills under public-private-partnership mode.<\/p>\n
He said that production capacity of steel mills will be increased further\u00a0and it would be ensured that the employees’ interests were protected.<\/p>\n
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would launch Apna Ghar housing\u00a0scheme on Wednesday and in the first phase 1,35,000 apartments would be\u00a0built.<\/p>\n
He said that proposals were under consideration to enhance the capacity\u00a0of Auditor General Office.He said that the issue of renewal of telecommunications licenses was also discussed in the Cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n
Fawad said that the Cabinet gave three-month extension to Chairman,\u00a0CDA Amir Ali Ahmed. The cabinet also gave approval to the proposal of\u00a0appointment of Dr Amir as chairman of the Evacuee Trust.<\/p>\n
He said that the Cabinet gave green signal for appointment of the new\u00a0chairman of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC).<\/p>\n
Later answering question of media persons, the Information Minister said\u00a0that there was no plan to reshuffle the Cabinet and when there would be any\u00a0change in portfolios, the PM Office would make a formal announcement in\u00a0that regard.<\/p>\n
He said that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari may not know but during the PPP rule the incidents of terrorism were quite common which now had been controlled to a\u00a0great extent.<\/p>\n
He said that Quetta incident was tragic, but there should be no politics on\u00a0the issue.<\/p>\n
