Ashghabat; 8th of May 2019, One more important step was taken towards the\u00a0social-economic development in Turkmenistan. This is the foundation laying\u00a0ceremony of a new social-production complex near the Turkmen lake \u201cAltyn
\nAsyr.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov participated to\u00a0this festive event. The Head of State left a commemorative note placed in a\u00a0special capsule positioned in the foundation of one of the new complex\u2019s\u00a0structures.<\/p>\n

The heads and representatives of the Mejlis (Parliament) of Turkmenistan,\u00a0Deputies of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads and representatives of\u00a0various ministries and agencies, as well as the higher educational institutions of
\nthe country, heads of Diplomatic Missions, representatives of international\u00a0organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, international experts, foreign and local\u00a0journalists also took part in the ceremony.<\/p>\n

The \u201cAltyn Asyr\u201d lake is\u00a0a grand hydro-technical project
\naimed at amelioration of the\u00a0environment, including the
\nrational use of water and land\u00a0resources. The process of
\nbuilding the lake is not simple.\u00a0With this purpose, a system of
\ncollectors for accumulating the\u00a0drainage waters coming from
\nthe irrigated lands from all the\u00a0regions of the country was
\ncreated, then to transfer them\u00a0to the natural valley called\u00a0Garashor, in the north-west of Turkmenistan.<\/p>\n

The new, large-scale social-production complex and the Turkmen lake will\u00a0become complementary segments in the region, where people will live and work\u00a0in the sphere of crop production, animal husbandry and other types of agriculture.<\/p>\n

According to the designed plan, the social production complex will be built in two\u00a0stages; the first will embrace the period of 2019-2022, while the second will\u00a0encompass the years 2022-2025.<\/p>\n

It is vital to note that Turkmenistan pays great attention to cooperation with\u00a0international organizations in this sphere. Therefore, effective management of\u00a0water resources is one of the important aspects of cooperation with the United
\nNations, particularly in the process of attaining the Sustainable Development\u00a0Goals that are steadily applied in the preparation of national development\u00a0programs of Turkmenistan.\"\"<\/p>\n

Altyn Asyr Lake \u2013 new opportunities for the region<\/p>\n

On the 8th of May\u00a02019, a briefing was held in\u00a0the framework of the events\u00a0dedicated to the foundation\u00a0laying of the new, social-\u00a0production complex in Serdar\u00a0province of the Balkan\u00a0region. This event was\u00a0organized with the aim of\u00a0informing the larger\u00a0community about the\u00a0Turkmen Lake \u201cAltyn Asyr,\u00a0including its significance in the sphere of environment protection and development\u00a0of social-economic system of Turkmenistan and the region in general.<\/p>\n

The high-level foreign guests, heads and representatives of the diplomatic\u00a0corps accredited in Turkmenistan, international organizations and programs,\u00a0international experts, as well as the representatives of national and foreign mass\u00a0media took part in the briefing.\"\"<\/p>\n

The authorized representatives of UN agencies and OSCE gave speeches\u00a0during the briefing where they specifically noted the significance and scale of the\u00a0man-made Turkmen Lake \u201cAltyn Asyr\u201d that is being constructed in the heart of
\nthe Karakum valley.<\/p>\n

Then the Scientific-practical conference was held dedicated to the\u00a0importance of Turkmen Lake which is a grand hydro-technical project aimed at\u00a0the amelioration of environment, including the rational use of water and land\u00a0resources.<\/p>\n

The key officials of Turkmen higher educational institutions, scholars,\u00a0experts, as well as the representatives of national mass media attended the\u00a0conference.\u00a0During the conference, it was noted that Turkmen Lake \u201cAltyn Asyr\u201d will
\nundoubtedly make a vital input to the development of social and economic system\u00a0of the country.<\/p>\n

After the events, the excursion by boat and bus along the Turkmen Lake\u00a0\u201cAltyn Asyr\u201d was organized for the participants of the event that was also\u00a0complemented by a promenade. Here, the participants could get acquainted
