\"\"ISLAMABAD: 18 March 2025 – The Embassy of Turkiye in Islamabad paid tributes to the martyrs of \u00c7anakkale War and celebrated the 104th anniversary of acceptance of national anthem today.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This war was fought by Turkey against Britain and its allies (France, Australia, and New Zealand) at the “Chinan Fortress” (located on the coast of Gallipoli). The main goal of this war was to weaken the Ottoman Empire so that it could not support Germany in World War I. The second goal was to capture Istanbul and open the sea route to Russia.<\/p>\n

In this war, the Ottoman Empire fought its rivals bravely and Britain and its allies were defeated.<\/p>\n

At that time, the subcontinent was ruled by the British, yet the Muslims of the subcontinent stood by their Turkish brothers and supported them steadfastly. When the British tried to use the Indian Muslim soldiers living in Singapore on the subcontinent against the Turks, so they rebelled.<\/p>\n

\"\"Even today, the Turkish nation looks at Pakistanis with respect and the love and warmth of Pakistanis for their Turkish brothers has never diminished.<\/p>\n

A minute of silence was observed in memory of those martyred in the fort. Turkish Ambassador Dr. Irfan Neziroglu appreciated\u00a0 strong love and spirit of cooperation in this war from the Muslims of United India including the then territories that later became Pakistan.<\/p>\n

There was also a photo exhibition of this historic war, that helped enlighten the participants in detail.<\/p>\n

\u00c7anakkale was originally the site of an Ottoman fortress called \u1e32al\u02bfa-i Sul\u1e6d\u0101n\u012bye (Ottoman Turkish: \u0642\u0644\u0639\u0647\u0654 \u0633\u0644\u0637\u0627\u0646\u06cc\u0647, lit.\u2009’fortress of the sultan’; Turkish: Sultaniye Kalesi). From the late 17th century onwards it became known for its glazed \u00c7anakkale ceramics, compared by the traveler Richard Pococke to Delftware, hence the later name \u00c7anak Kalesi “Pottery Castle”. This was adopted as the official name for the town in 1890, although having already been in use a century earlier.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
