The event aimed to promote sustainable development and strengthen green innovation partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between COMSTECH and SIEF, alongside the inauguration of the COMSTECH-SIEF Coordination Office for Green Technologies. This office will serve as a hub for knowledge exchange, technology transfer, and joint green innovation initiatives across the Islamic world and China.<\/p>\n<p>In his opening address, H.E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General of COMSTECH, emphasized that transitioning to a green economy is not just an alternative, it is humanity&#8217;s only sustainable path forward. He also emphasized the OIC&#8217;s innovation potential, which can create excellent synergy with China\u2019s large manufacturing sector. He also mentioned that OIC-COMSTECH had identified several priority areas where such collaboration could yield transformative results.<\/p>\n<p>Engr. Dr. Shahid Mahmud, Senior Advisor to COMSTECH and Chairman &amp; CEO of the Interactive Group of Companies, delivered an impassioned speech, stressing that the green economy is not optional but essential for humanity\u2019s survival. He identified key areas of cooperation between China and OIC member states, such as energy, food, water, healthcare, and security.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Tony Dong, Chief Representative of SIEF, in his keynote address, highlighted three transformative areas of opportunity: the synergy between China\u2019s advancements in photovoltaic materials and Pakistan\u2019s smart grid technology; the co-creation of green building standards aligned with Islamic architectural heritage; and the empowerment of youth through cross-border climate-tech incubation programs. The first session, titled &#8220;Transitioning to a Green Economy: Opportunities and Challenges,&#8221; was moderated by Ambassador Naghmana A. Hashmi. Panelists such as Dr. Huanzheng Du (UNEP-Tongji Institute, China), Mr. Faraz Khan MBE (Spectreco\/SEED Ventures, UK), Mr. Reza Magdon-Ismail (Nimitha Capital, Sri Lanka), and Mr. Talha Khan (Carbon Craft, UK) shared insights into the future of sustainable economic models.<\/p>\n<p>The second session, &#8220;Science, Technology, and Innovation as Drivers of Circular Economy,&#8221; was moderated by Ms. Seema A. Khan, Senior Advisor at COMSTECH, and featured experts including Dr. Jian Xiong (China), Mr. Zhengyong Chang (Beijing JTSPACE Technology Co Ltd., China), Dr. Saad Liaquat (Brillanz Group, Pakistan), and Mr. Jianhai Jin (Green Carbon Neutrality Institute, China).<\/p>\n<p>An interactive session on &#8220;Building a Roadmap for OIC Green Economy Cooperation&#8221; further engaged participants in outlining concrete steps for future collaboration, focusing on joint research, climate innovation hubs, and harmonized green standards across OIC member states.<\/p>\n<p>The event concluded with commitment to building sustainable partnerships and advancing the global green agenda.
