Ambassador of Vietnam , H.E Mr. Pham Anh Tuan has shared the history of the auspicious day of his nation , the National Reunification Day, April 30 with the readers of Pakistan in the World. This is the Day of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification with North.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is a public holiday in Vietnam that marks the event when the North Vietnamese and North Vietnam-controlled Viet Cong forces captured Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City), the capital of South Vietnam, on 30 April 1975, thus ending the Vietnam War.<\/p>\n

The event marked the start of the transition period of reunification, which also occurred after a vote in the National Assembly for reunification on 2 July 1976, when South Vietnam and North Vietnam were merged, forming the modern-day Vietnam.<\/p>\n

A :<\/strong> Fifty years ago, on April 30, 1975, the Liberation Flag of the Vietnam People’s Army was proudly raised atop the Independence Palace of the Saigon regime, marking the historic victory of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign. The Great Spring Victory of 1975 stands as a new epic, a shining milestone in the long history of nation-building and defense of the Vietnamese people. This victory ended the Vietnamese people’s resistance war, completely liberated the South, and reunified the nation.<\/p>\n

Such a glorious victory was the result of over 30 years of resilient and persistent struggle by the Vietnamese army and people\u2014including nine years of resistance against the French and 21 years against the Americans\u2014under the wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, our beloved leader.<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, achieving this historic triumph came at the cost of immense hardship, sacrifice, and irreparable loss for our country and people. The aftermath of war has left wounds and consequences that are yet to heal fully, especially in areas heavily affected by bombs and Agent Orange. Yet above all, the victory of April 30, 1975, remains a radiant symbol\u2014a triumph of patriotism, national solidarity, and the burning aspiration for peace, independence, and freedom.<\/p>\n

The complete liberation and reunification of the country 50 years ago ushered in a new era\u2014an era of independence, unity, peace, and development for Vietnam. This was a historic turning point for our nation as it embarked on a new period of growth and aspiration.<\/p>\n
