That is why , any special, auspicious day of Azerbaijan is celebrated with warm welcome and full participation of Pakistanis from every walk of life.<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The independence day is certainly the most important day and the celebration of 107th day in Islamabad <strong>@ newly opened first six star hotel Movenpick<\/strong> was another example of bilateral brotherhood and strong solidarity. Mr. and Mrs , Khazar Nadir Oglu Farhadov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted a magnificent reception to mark the day on 23 May 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is worth mentioning that Azerbaijan is the first democracy in the Muslim East. As the Ambassador shared the significance of May 28, 1918 &#8211; the date when the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established as the first secular republic. It was only after that, after 23 months , that the republic was invaded by the Soviet Union on 28 April 1920. Though the idea of independence was not defeated, and in 1991, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan again declared its independence.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"wrKck7R4V6\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/strengthening-brotherhood-pakistan-and-azerbaijan-focus-on-energy-economic-partnerships\/\">Strengthening Brotherhood: Pakistan and Azerbaijan Focus on Energy &#038; Economic Partnerships<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Strengthening Brotherhood: Pakistan and Azerbaijan Focus on Energy &#038; Economic Partnerships&#8221; &#8212; Pakistan In the World\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/strengthening-brotherhood-pakistan-and-azerbaijan-focus-on-energy-economic-partnerships\/embed\/#?secret=Pu66S8mpnh#?secret=wrKck7R4V6\" data-secret=\"wrKck7R4V6\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>It was very well attended event that was graced by <strong>Federal Minister for Petroleum <em>Ali Pervaiz Malik<\/em><\/strong> as chief guest who in his address spoke high about bilateral cooperation and recent developments between two states that are surely playing central role in enhancing the mutual cooperation to the next level.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides, Ambassador and Minister, in their speeches, expressed their strong resolve that the two states, like in the past, will in the future as well , stand shoulder by shoulder through thick and thin.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46902\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Pakistan-Azerbaijan-1-e1748073384588.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"255\" \/>The Minister expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan\u2019s firm support to Pakistan during its recent conflict with India. He highlighted the strong brotherly ties between the two countries and conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s best wishes and deep regard for Azerbaijan\u2019s well being and properity. He emphasized the need to boost cooperation in oil and gas exploration, energy trade, and investment.<\/p>\n<p>The minister is participating in the Baku Energy Week, where he will engage with global energy leaders to attract investment and promote sustainable energy initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Khazar Farhadov, in his welcome address, reaffirmed Azerbaijan&#8217;s commitment and solidarity with Pakistan and highlighted strong bilateral ties.<\/p>\n<p>At the reception, the Governors of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces of Pakistan, Kamran Tessori and Faisal Karim Kundi, former Climate Change Minister Senator Sherry Rehman, PM&#8217;s coordinator on Climate Change Ms Romina Khurshid Alam, former President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce Sardar Yasir Ilyas and many other parliamentarians, officials from civil military were also present.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46903\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-05-23-at-9.15.13-PM-e1748073509673.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"283\" \/>The presence of the Ambassadors from around the world , including Russian Federation, CARs, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Middle East, Africa, Europe, ASEAN, South Asia, Latin America and other regions was expressive of the deep diplomatic reach of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Azerbaijan welcomed the guests and said , \u201cThis day represents not only the declaration of sovereignty but also the spirit of resilience, sacrifice and unwavering quest for progress that characterizes the people of Azerbaijan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>H.E paid tributes to the leadership of national leader Heydar Aliyev and the continued vision of President Ilham Aliyev in maintaining the country\u2019s independence since its restoration in 1991. He said, Azerbaijan has preserved its sovereignty through strong leadership, particularly under President Aliyev, who has carried forward the legacy of Heydar Aliyev.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador shed light of the achievements of his country after the independence in 1991. He shared , our state in less than two years, laid the foundation for democratic institutions, defined its borders and asserted its presence in international relations. Despite its brief existence, the republic played a critical role in shaping Azerbaijan\u2019s democratic traditions and national identity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-46904\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Azerbaijan-Independence-Day-e1748073580535.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"186\" \/>On bilateral relations, Ambassador appreciated that Pakistan was among the first nations to recognise Azerbaijan\u2019s independence in 1991. This day represents not only the declaration of sovereignty but also the spirit of resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering quest for progress that characterizes the people of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n<p>Within a remarkably brief span, Azerbaijan established its first parliament and were international taken in relations, the field and of state protection building of its recognition national government, defined its borders, instituted state attributes, and carried out crucial state- building measures. Azerbaijan has been implementing the policy of Heydar Aliyev, continuing and enriching it under the leadership of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamic Republic of Pakistan was one of the first countries that recognized the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan on December 12, 1991. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on June 9, 1992.<\/p>\n<p>From the first day of our independence, we feel Pakistan\u2019s full support to the Republic of Azerbaijan both in bilateral format and within the framework of international organizations and during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by invader Armenia and their liberation by Azerbaijan, and in the post-conflict period. This victory fully restored Azerbaijan\u2019s sovereignty, and today, the Azerbaijani flag flies proudly in all territories where Azerbaijani sovereignty is established and Azerbaijan has officially declared 2025 as the Year of Constitution and Sovereignty.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past years, Azerbaijan has successfully chaired several important organizations such as the UN Security Council, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Turkic States, and many others.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, I would like to highlight my country`s successful hosting of the COP29 conference, which not only underscored our nation\u2019s growing leadership in global climate action but also provided a vital platform for international cooperation.
