On 1st of December 2019 we celebrate the 101 years since the realization of\u00a0our Great Union. One hundred and one years back, the century long ideal of\u00a0national unity has been achieved, building the foundation of the modern Romanian\u00a0state.<\/h4>\nThe anniversary of the Great Union has given us the opportunity to honour\u00a0the memory of the sacrifices made for laying the foundation of new Romania\u00a0which ultimately placed us in the midst of great European family.<\/h4>\nThe end of the\u00a0First World War and the armistice concluded in 1918, represents a crucial\u00a0moment in the history of mankind causing deep changes both in international\u00a0relations, and at socio-cultural level. We, in Romania and in Europe, will always\u00a0remember that 1,1 million soldiers from the Indian subcontinent had fought\u00a0courageously and heroically in different battle fields of the WWI and 60.000 of\u00a0them, mostly from today Pakistani Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had paid the\u00a0ultimate price in defending the ideals of peace, freedom, liberty, dignity,\u00a0democracy and fundamental human rights. \nimportant part of international war on terror.<\/h4>\nIn spite of these challenges, which\u00a0obviously affected the advancement of many economic projects, we welcome the\u00a0recent positive dynamics of the Pakistani economy, namely the steady and robust\u00a0economic growth, as well the opportunities created for the foreign companies\u00a0interested in doing business in Pakistan.<\/h4>\nRomania is eager to work with friendly\u00a0Pakistan for taking forward the bilateral agenda, as well the cooperation within the\u00a0EU-Pakistan framework and in multilateral formats, especially in the UN.<\/h4>\nI warmly\u00a0welcome the spirit of Romania-Pakistan relations, characterized by friendship and

Over a five-year period, 2013-2018, the bilateral trade balance was\u00a0positive for Romania with a steady increase in percentage terms, a bilateral format\u00a0we share interest to further enhance and diversify. During the last 5 years or so,\u00a0regular exchanges between the Romanian and Pakistani Chambers of Commerce\u00a0have been taking place, stimulating business to business and people to people\u00a0contacts.<\/h4>\nAt a cultural level, Romania benefits of a good reputation and experiences a\u00a0fruitful relations with IR of Pakistan. To give one example, in Islamabad, there is a\u00a0monument dedicated to the national poets Mihai Eminescu and Alama Iqbal. The\u00a0six meter long marble, bronze and granite monument, located in Blue Area on one\u00a0of the most important boulevards in the capital of Pakistan, features Pakistani\u00a0architectural elements and a representation of the Infinite Column, the\u00a0masterpiece of the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi.<\/h4>\nThe political-diplomatic dialogue is insured by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs,
\nwhich in the last years was regularly facilitated at the State Secretary level.
\nAt Parliamentary level, Romania and the IR of Pakistan enjoy close, active and
\nfruitful collaboration through Romania-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group
\nestablished on April 26, 2017 and the Pakistani-Romania Parliamentary
\nFriendship Group formed in September 27, 2018.<\/h4>\nRegarding the educational bilateral format, a Memorandum of Understanding for
\ncooperation between Kamra PAC and the Polytechnic University of Bucharest was
\nsigned in 2017 and is valid for 5 years.. This format provides exchange of students\u00a0and researchers, the development of joint research and development projects,\u00a0cooperation in individual projects, teacher exchange .<\/h4>\nIn the cultural domain, the two states periodically conclude cultural agreements
\nand agree on Executive Programs to implement, making possible that\u00a0approximately 200 students are enrolled in Romanian Universities, especially\u00a0Medicine and Economics.<\/h4>\nWith regards to people to people contacts, in order to bring together business\u00a0and civil society representatives, graduates of higher educations, former\u00a0ambassadors, diplomats, retired officers established a Pakistan \u2013 Romania\u00a0Friendship Association, and a group called Friends of Romania was created in\u00a0Lahore.<\/h4>\nPakistan-Romania Business Council is also an institution created to boost\u00a0economic bilateral relations.
