Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, H.E Alisher Tukhtaev has shared that his country is an ideal destination for Pakistani investors. He outlined 10 basic reasons that justify his statement and expressed confidence to achieve the targets after the finalization of PTA. He opned his mind before the media in a specially arranged briefing at the Embassy in Islamabad on 07 Aug 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He said, both governments are working closely to finalize a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), which is expected to significantly reduce tariffs and simplify customs procedures for key commodities. The sides plan to increase the number of goods covered under the Preferential Trade Agreement from 17 to 100.<\/p>\n

In Feb this year, the leaders of both sides met in Tashkent and expressed determination to take the bilateral economic cooperation upto $2 Billion in near future. As we continuously cover and watch the activities of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the staff is actively working to expand multifaceted partnership.<\/p>\n

Ambassador is confident that by the end of this year, he will be able to share even more significant developments aimed at further strengthening the strategic ties between our two friendly nations.<\/p>\n

He highlighted the 10 compelling reasons to actively engage in trade and economic cooperation with Uzbekistan:<\/p>\n

1- Business-Friendly Environment. Uzbekistan offers a stable macroeconomic climate, streamlined regulations, and a welcoming atmosphere for foreign investors and partners.
\n2- Attractive Tax Regime;
\n3- Affordable Utilities (access to low-cost electricity, gas, and other utilities);
\n4- Abundant natural resources (minerals, metals, and raw materials, and other);
\n5- Shared culture and history (Islamic heritage sites);
\n6- Strong government support for investment (legal protections, fiscal incentives);
\n7- Special Economic Zones across the country (ready-made infrastructure, preferential tax treatment, and customs incentives);
\n8- Sector-specific opportunities (textiles, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, sports equipment, leather and tanning, building materials, IT, and more);
\n9- Strategic location and market access (heart of Central Asia, offers strategic access to key regional markets including the CIS);
\n10- Skilled and competitive workforce (young, educated, and cost-effective labor force).<\/p>\n

Ambassador shared the details of some key developments and upcoming initiatives in bilateral relations:<\/p>\n

1. High-Level Political Dialogue<\/strong><\/p>\n

The frequency of high-level visits and meetings is a clear sign of the growing trust and strategic nature of our relations. The recent exchanges between leaders and ministers have laid a strong foundation for practical cooperation and tangible outcomes.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, paid an official two-day visit to Uzbekistan on 25\u201326 February this year. During the visit, both sides held comprehensive discussions on a wide range of issues, including political dialogue, regional connectivity, trade and economic relations, energy, agriculture, and joint infrastructure projects. Several important agreements and Memorandums of Understanding were signed, laying the groundwork for deeper institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, signed a Joint Declaration and a Protocol on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership Council at the highest level.<\/p>\n

This landmark step is expected to elevate relations to a new strategic level and to institutionalize a comprehensive framework for long-term, multifaceted cooperation.<\/p>\n
