ISLAMABAD : 11 Sep 2025 – The first female Secretary General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman is visiting Pakistan. She was warmly welcomed by Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on 09 Sep at his office. The visiting dignitory was invited to participate in the curtain raiser conference of upcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers\u2019 Conference (ISC) to be hosted by Pakistan in November.<\/p>\n

Mr. Gilani congratulated her on becoming AIPA\u2019s first female Secretary General and on receiving the Honorary Fellow Award from the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations in recognition of her contributions to regional development.<\/p>\n

The Chairman highlighted Pakistan\u2019s longstanding partnership with ASEAN, noting that the country became a Sectoral Dialogue Partner in 1993 and has since expanded cooperation through the ASEAN\u2013Pakistan Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AP-JSCC).<\/p>\n

He reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s active engagement with AIPA since attaining Observer Status in 2022, including participation in annual assemblies and thematic forums.<\/p>\n

Gilani briefed the Secretary General on the establishment of the ISC, launched earlier this year in Seoul under his leadership. Guided by the principles of interdependence, mutual prosperity, and universally shared values, the forum aims to promote parliamentary dialogue and joint solutions to global challenges.<\/p>\n

He shared that Pakistan will host the inaugural ISC Conference in Islamabad this November under the theme \u201cPeace, Stability, and Development\u201d and extended a formal invitation to AIPA.<\/p>\n

Misbah Khar, Ambassador of ISC, also shared the conference\u2019s vision and preparations, reaffirming ISC\u2019s commitment to inclusive, values-driven parliamentary cooperation. She said that Pakistan\u2019s broader vision of empowering women and highlighted the role of ISC as a platform for peace and dialogue.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Secretary General Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty commended Pakistan\u2019s growing role in regional parliamentary dialogue and welcomed the ISC initiative as a timely and inclusive platform.She reaffirmed AIPA\u2019s commitment to deepening cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and shared prosperity across the Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n

Both sides reaffirmed their resolve to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, uphold shared values and work toward a peaceful and prosperous future for the broader region.<\/p>\n

Thai Ambassador to Pakistan H.E Rongvudhi Virabutr,\u00a0 hosted a luncheon in honor of AIPA Secretary General, H.E. Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, on 10 September 2025 at his Residence.<\/p>\n

ASEAN ambassadors of Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunie, Myanmar, Philippine, Vietnam welcomed the Secretary General on her official visit to Pakistan, aimed at enhancing parliamentary cooperation, inter-parliamentary dialogue, and ASEAN\u2013Pakistan engagement. Her visit underscores the importance of extending ASEAN\u2019s parliamentary diplomacy and collaborative platforms to include observer countries like Pakistan.<\/p>\n

UN Women Pakistan hosted a dinner in honor of H.E. Ar. Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman\u00a0 at the M\u00f6venpick Hotel, Islamabad. The dinner was organized by Mr. Jamshed M. Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan, as part of a series of events marking the Secretary General’s official visit to Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The highlight of her visit is her participation in the upcoming Dialogue on Transforming Care Systems, which aims to foster inclusive discussions on strengthening support structures for women and caregivers in the region.<\/p>\n

The event brought together Ambassadors and diplomats of ASEAN, development partners, and advocates working toward gender equality and inclusive care systems in Asia and beyond.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
