{"id":5242,"date":"2020-01-15T10:40:29","date_gmt":"2020-01-15T10:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/?p=5242"},"modified":"2020-01-15T10:40:29","modified_gmt":"2020-01-15T10:40:29","slug":"usa-pakistan-partnership-transforms-farmers-lives-through-access-to-innovative-agricultural-technologies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/usa-pakistan-partnership-transforms-farmers-lives-through-access-to-innovative-agricultural-technologies\/","title":{"rendered":"USA-Pakistan Partnership Transforms Farmers&#8217; Lives Through Access to Innovative Agricultural Technologies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5243\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/usaid-e1579084711878.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"322\" \/>Islamabad, January 15, 2020 <\/em>\u2013 The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) hosted the first-ever \u2018Modernizing Agriculture through Innovative Technologies Conference 2020\u2019 in Islamabad today.\u00a0 The event showcased the transformational impact of the U.S.-Pakistan partnership to advance agricultural commercialization in Pakistan through strategic partnerships with 30 dynamic agricultural technologies businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is part of USAID\u2019s four-year Pakistan Agricultural Technology Transfer Activity (PATTA).\u00a0 This initiative enables the private sector to give Pakistani farmers access to innovative agricultural products and management practices, which improve productivity and enhance competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>One of the important highlights of the conference was the unveiling of PATTA\u2019s \u201cAgri-Tech Hub\u201d &#8211; a suite of pioneering agricultural technologies and tools being promoted by the project and its agribusiness partners.\u00a0 Key agriculture sector stakeholders also held a panel discussion on the potential of private sector agri-tech investments to transform Pakistani agriculture, create jobs, encourage adoption of agricultural innovations, reduce costs, and solve problems for farmers and growers.<\/p>\n<p>Joint Secretary, Ministry for National Food Security and Research Dr. Muhammad Khurshid praised USAID for empowering farmers to boost their incomes and to improve food security.\u00a0 He also applauded the project\u2019s partners for joining hands with the United States to bring vitality to Pakistan\u2019s agriculture sector, and extend advancements in agri-tech to rural farmers in remote districts where awareness of such technologies has been limited.<\/p>\n<p>USAID\/Pakistan\u2019s Acting Mission Director Clay W. Epperson reiterated the importance of the private sector\u2019s role in uplifting agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future of agricultural development in Pakistan is enterprise-driven,\u201d said Mr. Epperson. \u201cDeepening collaboration with private enterprises will forge mutually beneficial ventures and tackle challenges. Working together, we can embrace modernity in the agriculture sector with trailblazing products and services, and good agricultural management practices.
