ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly of Pakistan hosted a Parliamentary Panel Discussion as part of the ongoing Third Trilateral Speakers\u2019 Conference of Pakistan, T\u00fcrkiye, and Azerbaijan in Islamabad.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The session focused on \u201cClimate Change, Disaster Resilience, and Sustainable Development\u201d along with “Defending Territorial Integrity & Sovereignty: Solidarity Against External Threat” and witnessed active participation from parliamentary delegates of all three brotherly nations.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Convener of the Parliamentary Taskforce on SDGs & Convenor of Pak-Turkiye Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, chaired the panel discussion and in her welcome address she warmly welcomed the delegations of T\u00fcrkiye and Azerbaijan to Pakistan, emphasizing that climate change is not a challenge confined to one country but a shared global crisis.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Azerbaijani delegation<\/strong> was composed of Ms. Fatima Yildirim, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, along with Mr. Kamaluddin Gafarova, Mr. Anar Malladov, Mr. Elshan Musawev, and Mr. Arzu Naghiyev<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Turkish delegation<\/strong> included Mr. Abdul Qadir Ozel, Member of the Grand National Assembly from Hatay, Mr. Abdul Hameed Gul, and Mr. Ali Sahin, who actively contributed to the proceedings of the conference and reaffirmed T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s commitment to regional solidarity and cooperation.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ms. Shaista Pervaiz Malik highlighted that the devastating floods of 2022 inflicted severe economic losses on Pakistan, yet the nation emerged stronger through collective resilience and international engagement. She called for enhanced technology exchange, promotion of green infrastructure, and regional cooperation to build sustainable and disaster-resilient societies.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

She further noted that no country can confront natural disasters alone, stressing that public representatives have a collective responsibility to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. She expressed confidence that green energy initiatives and electric transport systems could serve as game-changers for sustainable progress.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Azerbaijan\u2019s Deputy Chair of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology, Ms. Fatima Yildirim,<\/strong> proposed the establishment of a Regional Parliamentary Forum on Green Energy, emphasizing the importance of knowledge exchange and joint climate action. She reaffirmed Azerbaijan\u2019s commitment to strengthening regional cooperation with Pakistan and T\u00fcrkiye and highlighted her country\u2019s investments in smart villages, green transition, and disaster preparedness.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Members of the Turkish delegation expressed gratitude for Pakistan\u2019s warm hospitality and commended Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for successfully hosting the third trilateral meeting. They also thanked the people and government of Pakistan for their assistance during the tragic earthquakes in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Member of the Turkish Delegation, Mr. Ali Sahin, poignantly remarked that \u201cthe tears of Kashmiri mothers are the same as those of Turkish mothers\u201d, underlining the shared pain and historical bonds between the peoples of Pakistan, T\u00fcrkiye, and Azerbaijan.<\/strong><\/div>\n

Members of the Turkish Delegation reaffirmed T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s solidarity with Pakistan during the 2022 floods and paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan\u2019s security forces who laid down their lives in the fight against terrorism. He termed terrorism a global menace requiring a collective and coordinated response, and lauded the growing defence partnership among Pakistan, T\u00fcrkiye, and Azerbaijan, particularly through initiatives such as the \u201cThree Brothers Exercise.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Expressing unwavering support for Pakistan\u2019s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the Turkish Parliamentary Delegation underscored that it must be resolved in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. He praised Pakistan\u2019s patience and prudence in handling recent regional tensions, and described the Islamabad Declaration as a testament to the three nations\u2019 unity for regional peace, stability, and prosperity.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

From Pakistan\u2019s side, Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Convener of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group<\/strong>, welcomed the fraternal delegations and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s unwavering support for the Palestinian and Kashmiri causes. He lauded Azerbaijan\u2019s determination in reclaiming its territories and T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s efforts to safeguard its borders, describing both as inspirations of resilience and unity.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Syed Raza Ali Gillani paid rich tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan for their successful Operation Banyan-ul-Marsus and reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s solidarity with the people of Palestine, who continue to face Israeli aggression with courage and steadfastness.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

He stated that Pakistan, T\u00fcrkiye, and Azerbaijan, when speaking with one voice, send a powerful message of unity to the world, adding that this trilateral conference will be remembered as a symbol of solidarity with the people of Palestine and Jammu & Kashmir.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
