BAKU\/ Azerbaijan : 29 Oct 2025 – Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, addressed the International Parliamentary Conference dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Baku, emphasizing the vital role of constitutions in upholding the independence and sovereignty of states in today\u2019s complex global landscape.<\/p>\n

Representing the Senate of Pakistan, Chairman Gilani extended warm greetings from the Parliament, Government, and people of Pakistan to the leadership and people of Azerbaijan. He expressed gratitude to Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, for the gracious invitation and warm hospitality.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the theme \u201cConstitution as the Foundation of the Independence and Sovereignty of States in the Contemporary World,\u201d Chairman Gilani described the Constitution as the supreme covenant between the state and its people \u2014 a living embodiment of national will that ensures unity, justice, and accountability.<\/span><\/p>\n

He commended Azerbaijan for exemplifying constitutional order, unity, and resilience under the visionary leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. Congratulating Azerbaijan on the upcoming 30th Anniversary of its Constitution on November 12, Chairman Gilani lauded the declaration of 2025 as the \u201cYear of Constitution and Sovereignty,\u201d terming it a tribute to the country\u2019s enduring commitment to democratic values, progress, and peace.<\/p>\n

Drawing parallels between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, the Chairman said both nations share a historic journey rooted in faith, dignity, and constitutionalism. He highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan remains the cornerstone of the country\u2019s sovereignty and democratic governance, reflecting the collective will of the people and ensuring the independence of institutions and the rights of citizens.<\/p>\n
