BAKU: Pakistan and Tajikistan have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation, underlining the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and political bonds that unite the two brotherly nations. This was agreed during a meeting between Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Chairman of the Assembly of Representatives (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of Tajkistan Mr. Fayzali Idizoda in Baku.<\/div>\n

Both sides reaffirmed that the Pakistan\u2013Tajikistan friendship is founded on mutual respect, shared faith, and common aspirations for peace, progress, and prosperity. The leadership of both countries remains committed to deepening cooperation in areas including trade, energy, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges, the Chairman Senate observed.<\/div>\n

Gilani emphasized the need to enhance inter-parliamentary linkages, noting that robust parliamentary engagement is essential for promoting mutual understanding, building trust, and fostering effective governance through collaborative policymaking.<\/div>\n

Both the leaders underscored the importance of regular interactions between parliamentary committees and friendship groups to share legislative experiences and best practices in addressing common challenges such as economic growth, environmental sustainability, and good governance.<\/div>\n

Recognizing shared challenges in combating terrorism and extremism, Chairman Senate called for continued collaboration through regional mechanisms such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.<\/div>\n

Both sides acknowledged the growing defense cooperation between Pakistan and Tajikistan and emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in military training, capacity building, and intelligence sharing to enhance regional security and stability.<\/div>\n

Gilani also stressed the need to deepen trade and economic relations, with particular focus on key sectors such as textiles, agriculture, industry, and energy.<\/div>\n

He said that both Pakistan and Tajikistan enjoy strong coordination at international forums, particularly the SCO and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and highlighted to jointly work on initiatives addressing regional connectivity, infrastructure development, the impact of climate change in mountainous regions, and countering terrorism and extremism.<\/div>\n

Chairman Senate also extended invitation to His Excellency to attend the forthcoming Inter-Parliamentary Speakers\u2019 Conference (ISC) being hosted by the Senate of Pakistan in Islamabad from 10\u201312 November 2025.<\/div>\n

He said that the Conference will serve as an important platform for dialogue on regional peace, security, and development, and will help further strengthen parliamentary and intergovernmental cooperation. Both sides highlighted the importance of expanding educational and cultural linkages to foster closer ties between the youth of both countries.<\/div>\n
