Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, the Ambassador rightly said is a truly historic moment and a new home for the treasures of ancient Egypt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) has been fully inaugurated on Novmber 1, 2025. The opening ceremony was attended by Egyptian president Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, the First Lady, as well as representatives of foreign countries and prominent public figures. Among the guest were King Philippe of Belgium, King Felipe VI of Spain, Queen Rania of Jordan, Greece&#8217;s Prime Minsiter Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Hungary&#8217;s Prime Minister Viktor Orb\u00e1n, Germany&#8217;s President Frank\u2011Walter Steinmeier and others.<\/p>\n<p>The Embassy of Egypt hosted a reception in Islamabad to mark this big achievement of their country. H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid, the Ambassador and staff of the embassy enthusiastically welcomed the guests at Hotel Movenpick for introduction to GEM and to celebrate the remarkable accomplishment of a national as well as international task to preserve the human heritage of thousands of years for the next generations.<\/p>\n<p>The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as an architectural masterpiece. With a cost of over one billion dollars, it covers an impressive area of 480,000 square meters. Designed under the auspices of UNESCO, the museum was envisioned as a \u201cfourth pyramid\u201d \u2014 a stunning visual and symbolic extension of its ancient counterparts.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-54278 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/Egypt-Grand-Museum-Islamabad-e1762091552937.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A documentary was screened to better apprise the guests from different walks of life especially gov officials , ambassadors and media persons. Head of Africa Desk at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan Amb Hamid Asghar Khan graced the occasion with his presence. From diplomatic community, ambassadors of Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Jordon, Oman, Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, diplomats from Palestine and South Africa also participated.<\/p>\n<p>The guests showed keen interests in the replicas of renown artcrafts of ancient Egypt displayed at the event. Informative booklets were also available for the guests free of cost to read the articles with related pictures and have the knowledge about where, when, how to visit the tourist attractions in Egypt.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador extend a warm welcome to\u00a0 friends from the international community, saying, their presence reflects the shared appreciation of humanity\u2019s cultural heritage and our collective commitment to preserving it for future generations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"td_btn td_btn_lg td_shadow_btn\" style=\"color: #ffff00;\">Ambassador in his introductory remarks shared , &#8220;This museum is not only the largest archaeological museum in the world, but also a symbol of Egypt\u2019s deep respect for history, culture, and knowledge. It stands proudly near the Great Pyramids of Giza \u2014 uniting our glorious past with our modern vision for the future.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>H.E. Dr. Ihab Abdelhamid briefed the guests, &#8221; Through this museum, Egypt opens its doors to the world \u2014 inviting all nations to explore the story of human civilization written on the banks of the Nile. It is a story of creativity, resilience, and timeless beauty.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; The journey of the Grand Egyptian Museum is, in itself, a story of perseverance and vision. It is located about two kilometers (1.2 miles) from the Giza Pyramid Complex.<\/em><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"x14z9mp xat24cr x1lziwak x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The museum was announced in 1992, actual construction began in 2005, and it was fully completed in 2023 at a cost of $1.2 billion.
