Chairman Senate , Acting President Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s strong commitment to work closely with Azerbaijan for a more stable, connected, and prosperous region. He also appreciated Ambassador Khazar Farhadov\u2019s tireless efforts in further strengthening and diversifying bilateral cooperation.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n

He attended a reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Islamabad to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of Azerbaijan\u2019s Victory Day. The day is celebrated to pay homage to the martyrs of the Second Karabakh War fought against occupant Armenia from 27 Sep to 10 Nov 2020. Azerbaijan got liberated illegally occupied territories and more than 3 thousand soldiers sacrificed their lives in this patriotic war.<\/div>\n

It was a very well attended event in which Many ministers, parliamentarians, government officials, military officials, ambassadors, civil society representatives, business community and media persons were present in large number to express their solidarity with Azerbaijan. Federal Ministers included, Raza Hayat Haraj Defence Production, Abdul Aleem Khan Communications , Rana Ehsan Afzal Khan Commerce.<\/div>\n

\"\"Ambassador Khazar Farhadov ,in his welcome address, shed light on the history of Karabakh and the wars on this issue with Armenia.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He informed the participants about principal stand of Azerbaijan on Karabakh that resulted into liberation of occupied territories , reconstruction and rehabilitation in the liberated lands and finally signing of peace deal with the rival neighbor Armenia in Washington.<\/p>\n

Ambassador expressed his gratutude to Pakistan for support during the war and throughout the history of the dispute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Chairman Senate , Acting President Pakistan Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani<\/strong> , extending warm felicitations to the Government and people of Azerbaijan on this auspicious occasion, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that the 5th Anniversary of the Victory Day was a moment of pride not only for the people of Azerbaijan but for all who cherish the universal values of courage, unity, and justice.<\/p>\n

He described the Victory Day as a proud chapter in Azerbaijan\u2019s modern history, reflecting the strength, resilience, and indomitable spirit of its people.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

He observed that the day symbolizes Azerbaijan\u2019s reaffirmation of its sovereignty and dignity under the visionary leadership that turned determination into achievement.<\/p>\n

Acting President highlighted that Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy a time-tested friendship anchored in mutual trust, shared aspirations, and steadfast solidarity.<\/p>\n

He noted that this historic partnership has deep civilizational roots, as symbolized by the 14th-century Multani Caravanserai in Baku, a living testament to centuries-old socio-economic, people-to-people, and cultural connections between the two nations.<\/p>\n

Recalling his recent visits to Azerbaijan, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that he received great warmth and affection from the leadership and people of Azerbaijan, describing Baku as a \u201chome away from home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Acting President lauded the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Ms Sahiba Gafarova, as trusted friends and partners of Pakistan, and expressed gratitude for their continued support and engagement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Underscoring the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani emphasized that parliaments of both countries have been instrumental in deepening bilateral ties through sustained dialogue, cooperation, and understanding.\"\"
\nHe reaffirmed that the Senate of Pakistan values its close relations with the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and remains committed to fostering greater collaboration at the institutional level.<\/p>\n

Acting President Gilani remarked that bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan has expanded across diverse domains, including trade, energy, defense, and education \u2014 reflecting a partnership that is both strategic and fraternal.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur bonds are not transactional; they are historical and enduring, rooted in shared principles of respect, justice, and equality,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

He paid tribute to the people of Azerbaijan for their remarkable progress and resilience, noting that Azerbaijan\u2019s story of renewal and unity stands as an inspiration for nations striving for peace through fairness and resolve.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

Concluding his remarks, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Gilani said that the evening was not only a celebration of victory but also of the unbreakable friendship and shared vision that binds Pakistan and Azerbaijan together.<\/p>\n

\u201cLong Live Pakistan-Azerbaijan Friendship,\u201d he proclaimed, amid applause from the audience.<\/p>\n

Chairman Senate extended an invitation to the Ambassador Azerbaijan to upcoming Inter Parliamentary Speakers Conference to be held in Islamabad on 10-12 Nov 2025.<\/p>\n

A famous female singer presented national and traditional songs of Azerbaijan for the amusement of the guests and recieved huge applause from the listeners. A military officer of Azerbaijan accompanied her on the stage and performed like profeshional singers. It was amazing for the guests.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Pakistan Military band was also present that showed the close relations between the two militaries. The band demonstrated its skills very well that the guests appreciated a lot.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

A contingent of the Pakistan Army\u00a0 participated alongside troops from the brotherly and allied country of Azerbaijan, in their\u00a0 5th Victory Parade\u00a0 held in the Azerbaijani capital city of Baku. Azerbaijan Army contingent takes part in Pakistan Day Parade in Islamabad every year on 23 March.<\/p>\n
