His reappointment as CDS on 27 Nov is said to be for 5 years. Moreover\u00a0 federal constitutional court with equal provincial representation will be formed. President has been exempted of any criminal trials for life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>While the government hails passage of 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill; vows to defeat terrorism, strengthen federation.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday felicitated the nation and the members of the National Assembly on the passage of the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill with a two-third majority, terming it a historic step towards strengthening democracy and national unity.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Opposition PTI and a large number of civil society is criticizing the amendment as a move to bring authoritarian rule in a otherwise called democratic country. Religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani issued his Fatwa that no one is exempted in Islam from accountability.<\/p>\n<p>It is also apprehended that Navy and Air Force may dislike the Chief of Defence as head of all three wings of military. And judicial reforms are said to be rein the judges to seek favorable decisions.<\/p>\n<p>The constitutional amendment comprising fifty nine clauses was moved by Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar.<\/p>\n<p>Two hundred and thirty four members voted in favour of the bill, which is not less than the two-thirds of the total membership of the House.<\/p>\n<p>As per the amendment, the federal constitutional court will hear cases relating to constitutional matters and interpretation of the constitution. For this purpose, the chief justices of both high courts shall also be members of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>As per the amendment, the President shall, on advice of the Prime Minister, appoint the Chief of the Army Staff concurrently, the Chief of the Defense Forces.\u00a0 The appointment of the chief of air staff and chief of naval staff will be made on the advice of the Prime Minister.<\/p>\n<p>The office of the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee shall stand abolished with effect from the twenty-seventh day of November 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Prime Minister shall, on the recommendation of the Chief of the Army Staff concurrently the Chief of the Defense Forces, appoint the Commander of the National Strategic Command from the members of Pakistan Army and shall also determine his salaries and allowances.<\/p>\n<p>Upon completion of the term of his command, under the law, the Federal Government shall determine the responsibilities and duties of Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air Force or Admiral of the Fleet in the interest of the State.<\/p>\n<p>According to the constitutional amendment, no criminal proceedings whatsoever shall be initiated or continued against the president for his life and for a governor during his term of office in any court. He said the government would continue to seek guidance from the top judiciary in upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.<\/p>\n<p>Paying tribute to late Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the prime minister said his services to the party, academia, and national discourse would always be remembered. \u201cHe was among the most loyal companions of Nawaz Sharif, and his academic insight will remain a beacon of light for future generations,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He prayed for the grant of eternal peace to late Irfan Siddiqui and for strength and courage to his family members to bear the loss with patience.<\/p>\n<p>Referring to the recent terror attacks, the prime minister strongly condemned the attack on Cadet College Wana, likening it to the tragic Army Public School incident. He lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces for safely rescuing all students and eliminating the terrorists involved.<\/p>\n<p>He also condemned the terror attack in Islamabad targeting the Judicial Complex, which claimed 12 precious lives including lawyers, and prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs and the speedy recovery of the injured.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"o7F2HcPZCt\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/azerbaijan-early-presidential-election-for-new-era-for-more-inclusiveness-after-liberation-of-karabakh\/\">Azerbaijan \u2013 Early Presidential Election for New Era, for More Inclusiveness after Liberation of Karabakh<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute; clip: rect(1px, 1px, 1px, 1px);\" title=\"&#8220;Azerbaijan \u2013 Early Presidential Election for New Era, for More Inclusiveness after Liberation of Karabakh&#8221; &#8212; Pakistan In the World\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/azerbaijan-early-presidential-election-for-new-era-for-more-inclusiveness-after-liberation-of-karabakh\/embed\/#?secret=tjYlY7F57G#?secret=o7F2HcPZCt\" data-secret=\"o7F2HcPZCt\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The prime minister said it was evident that elements from India and Afghanistan were involved in these terrorist incidents. \u201cWe have presented undeniable proof of Indian involvement in the Jaffar Express attack before the world, and no one challenged those facts,\u201d he said, adding that the Khawarij terrorists would receive a befitting response from Pakistan\u2019s security forces.<\/p>\n<p>Shehbaz Sharif said that peace talks had been held in Doha and Istanbul with the Afghan interim government with the sole condition that it curb the BLA and other terrorist groups using Afghan soil against Pakistan. \u201cWe desire peace and stability in the region and expect Afghanistan to make sincere commitments to support Pakistan\u2019s peace efforts,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister also highlighted the government\u2019s recent diplomatic and defence successes, saying Pakistan\u2019s victory in the \u201cMarka-e-Haq\u201d war against India in February and the government\u2019s bold decisions had enhanced the country\u2019s image globally.<\/p>\n<p>He said the nation hailed the conferring of the title of Field Marshal on Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir following that victory, saying that the post of Field Marshal was now being made part of the Constitution alongside other service chiefs, which they fully deserve.<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating his commitment to strengthening the federation, the prime minister said he stood by all measures that empowered the federation and provinces, and opposed anything that weakened national unity.<\/p>\n<p>He said the security forces were at the forefront of the war against terrorism, sacrificing their lives for the peace and security of the nation.<\/p>\n<p>On the issues related to the 18th Amendment and the NFC Award, the prime minister said he would hold consultations with the PPP and other political parties to build consensus for addressing these critical national matters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"9yDE7tmr1M\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/pakistan-in-the-world-september-2025\/\">Pakistan in the World \u2013 September 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe class=\"wp-embedded-content\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" security=\"restricted\" style=\"position: absolute;
