ISLAMABAD : Staff Reporter + Camera : Raja Ghulam Farid – The 19th Buraq Space Camp concluded with a well-attended closing ceremony on Monday at the Auditorium of the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The ceremony brought together policymakers, scientists, educators, diplomats, and young participants to celebrate youth engagement and capacity building in space science and technology.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The program commenced with recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by welcome remarks by Prof. Dr. Shahid Mahmud, Chairman Buraq Society and Senior Honorary Advisor, OIC-COMSTECH.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He highlighted the long-standing role of the Buraq Society in nurturing young talent in space sciences and emphasized the importance of sustained mentorship and hands-on learning for youth.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In his welcome address, H.E. Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary,<\/strong> Coordinator General, OIC-COMSTECH, underscored the growing relevance of space science in modern development. He noted that space technologies now play a critical role in communication, climate monitoring, disaster management, agriculture, and sustainable development, particularly for developing countries.<\/div>\n

He stressed that investing in youth through initiatives like the Buraq Space Camp is an investment in future scientific leadership and innovation.<\/div>\n

Brief remarks were also delivered by Ms. Haadiya Usman,<\/strong> Base Commander 2025, Buraq Society, who shared reflections on the camp activities and commended the enthusiasm and creativity of the participants.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Mr. Usman Yousuf<\/strong>, Vice Chairman, Buraq Society, emphasized the importance of continuity, collaboration, and creating pathways for students to pursue careers in space science and related fields.<\/div>\n

The Guest of Honour, H.E. Ambassador Aftab Ahmad Khokher,<\/strong> Assistant Secretary General (Science & Technology), OIC General Secretariat, appreciated the efforts of OIC-COMSTECH and Buraq Society in promoting space science education among youth and reaffirmed the OIC\u2019s commitment to strengthening cooperation in science and technology across member states.<\/div>\n

The Chief Guest, H.E. Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja,<\/strong> Federal Minister for IT & Telecommunication, in her address, highlighted COMSTECH ‘s importance for global leadership of Pakistan in science, technology and innovation.<\/div>\n

She encouraged students to pursue innovation, critical thinking, and ethical use of technology, noting that Pakistan\u2019s future competitiveness depends on a skilled and forward-looking youth.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The ceremony also featured a farewell video, followed by a vote of thanks, prize distribution, and group photographs.<\/div>\n

The 19th Buraq Space Camp served as a significant platform for inspiring young minds, fostering collaboration, and strengthening Pakistan\u2019s and OIC member states\u2019 engagement in space science education and capacity building.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Ambassador Kazakhstan H.E Yerzhan Kistafin, Yemen H.E Mohammad Motahhar and\u00a0 Azerbaijan Mr. Behbud were also present and they presented the shields to the participants of the camp. Former Chief of Air Staff, Sohail Aman was also present.<\/strong><\/div>\n
