ISLAMABAD : President of Islamic Republic of Pakistan , Asif ali Zardari has sent a message of felicitation to Acting President of Myanmar (Burma) Mr. Min Aung Hlaing on the seventy-eighth anniversary of your Independence Day.<\/p>\n

Earlier on 06 Jan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Myanmar, H.E. U Than Swe, and reviewed current level of bilateral relations.They agreed to maintain close communication in future on common issues as well as regional matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

President, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and on his own behalf, extended his warm and sincere felicitations to His Excellency and to the Government and people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.<\/p>\n

He said , “Pakistan and Myanmar share a long history of cordial relations, rooted in mutual respect and understanding since the early years following Myanmar\u2019s independence. These ties are reinforced by historic cultural links and a tradition of goodwill between our peoples.”<\/p>\n

\"\"President added, over time, our relationship has continued to evolve, with growing engagement in areas such as trade, defence, health, culture and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed confidence that there remains considerable potential to further expand our cooperation through practical initiatives and closer institutional links that serve the shared interests of our two countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Pakistan attaches importance to working with Myanmar to promote peace, stability and development in our wider region. Both our countries are active members of the United Nations and other international forums, where Pakistan values cooperation with Myanmar on issues of mutual concern, based on respect for sovereignty, dialogue and multilateralism, President said.<\/p>\n

He said, We also recognise the importance of broader regional engagement. Myanmar\u2019s role within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is significant for regional stability and economic integration.<\/p>\n

Pakistan, as a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN, remains interested in strengthening its engagement with ASEAN and its member states, including Myanmar, in ways that promote connectivity, development and mutual understanding, President continued.<\/p>\n

Finally, he reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s desire to strengthen bilateral contacts with Myanmar and to encourage greater interaction between\u00a0 public and private sectors. “Such engagement can help translate longstanding goodwill into tangible outcomes for our peoples, he concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n
