\"\"ISLAMABAD : Monitoring Desk – Pakistan and the Kingdom of Morocco signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on defence cooperation, marking an important milestone in further strengthening bilateral defence and security collaboration between the two countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MoU was signed during an official visit by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif to the Kingdom of Morocco.<\/p>\n

The Defence Minister held a meeting with Mr. Abdellatif Loudiyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of the National Defense Administration of Morocco, and led delegation-level talks focused on enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n

He also held a separate meeting with Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meetings, the two sides exchanged gifts. The Federal Minister for Defence also presented a Pakistan-made football to the Moroccan Defence Minister.<\/p>\n

Prior to the meetings, the Federal Minister for Defence visited the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where he offered Fateha and signed the Mausoleum Guests Book.<\/p>\n

\"\"These engagements provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, stability, and cooperation.<\/p>\n

The visit reflects the longstanding friendly relations between Pakistan and Morocco and underscores the mutual desire to further deepen cooperation in defence, security, and other areas of shared interest, the press release said.<\/p>\n

The visit comes as several Muslim nations have expressed interest in defense agreements with Pakistan following its performance in the brief conflict with India last year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a social media post shared by Asif, Pakistan and Morocco are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance defense cooperation during his visit.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnder the agreement, an institutional framework will be established for permanent defense links,\u201d he announced in a post on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe MoU will also open new avenues for future collaboration across various defense and security sectors, including military training, exchange of experiences, capacity building, and other joint initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asif added that he would also lead delegation-level talks aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest between Pakistan and Morocco.<\/p>\n

In April last year, the Pakistani and Moroccan armies launched the third edition of their joint bilateral military exercise to enhance professional skills of soldiers and strengthen defense ties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In November 2024, Moroccan Air Force Inspector Major General Mohammed Gadih met Pakistan\u2019s Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu to express interest in collaborating with the Pakistan Air Force in the aerospace sector.<\/strong><\/p>\n
