Rwandan High Commissioner Harerimana Fatou was also present.<\/p>\n<p>Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Commerce Rana Ihsaan Afzal Khan was also present.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The High Commission of the Republic of Rwanda in Islamabad, in collaboration with the National Agricultural Export Board (NAEB), successfully hosted the Rwanda Coffee Festival 2026 at the M\u00f6venpick Hotel, Islamabad. Report Tazeen Akhtar&#8221; &#8212; Pakistan In the World\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/rwanda-high-commission-is-all-set-to-host-first-coffee-festival-in-islamabad-pakistan-report-tazeen-akhtar\/embed\/#?secret=GYk6wGGKmF#?secret=a3pnfAmG8c\" data-secret=\"a3pnfAmG8c\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Addressing the festival, Jam Kamal Khan welcomed the Rwandan delegation and termed the engagement a timely initiative to unlock the vast untapped trade potential between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that Pakistan and Rwanda, both agro-based economies, share strong complementarities at a time when global food security has become a strategic priority.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Minister highlighted that while Rwanda\u2019s exports to Pakistan have traditionally been dominated by tea, coffee consumption in Pakistan is rising rapidly, particularly among the younger population.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that Pakistan imports tea worth nearly USD 3 billion annually, while coffee is fast transitioning from a niche product to a mainstream consumer item.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58501\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad.jpg 700w, https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad-300x103.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad-696x240.jpg 696w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>He said Rwanda\u2019s premium-quality coffee, competitive pricing, and geographic proximity give it a natural edge, adding that Pakistan\u2014with a market of over 250 million people\u2014could also serve as a future gateway for Rwandan coffee exports to Central Asia, western China, and neighboring regions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jam Kamal Khan further informed that Pakistan\u2019s ongoing tariff rationalization policy would gradually reduce tariff lines, making imports more competitive and supporting increased coffee consumption.<\/p>\n<p>On the export side, he highlighted Pakistan\u2019s strengths in rice, textiles, leather and footwear, sports goods, surgical instruments, pharmaceuticals, home appliances, electronics, agricultural machinery, tractors, motorcycles, and low-end manufacturing, noting that Pakistan has already started exporting tractors to African markets.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Minister emphasized that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relationship with Rwanda and is keen to diversify bilateral trade on the basis of mutual benefit, shared prosperity, and long-term partnership.<\/p>\n<p>He also indicated Pakistan\u2019s interest in importing Rwandan avocados, pulses, lentils, and beans, while assuring facilitation in phytosanitary certification through cooperation between relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RWANDA Coffee Festival in Islamabad @ First Time | Inaugurated by Minister Commerce Jam Kamal Khan\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SPas4jlx3Ag?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the occasion, <strong>Rwandan<\/strong> <strong>Minister<\/strong> <strong>Prudence<\/strong> <strong>Sebahizi<\/strong> described Pakistan as a major potential market for Rwanda and reaffirmed his country\u2019s commitment to diversifying exports beyond tea to include specialty coffee, spices, and other value-added products.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Rwanda Coffee Festival was part of a broader strategy to introduce Rwanda\u2019s premium coffee to the Pakistani market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Rwandan Minister highlighted Rwanda\u2019s position as a trade and distribution hub for Africa, offering investors access to a market of over 1.4 billion people under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He noted that Pakistani investors had already begun exploring opportunities in Rwanda and were being warmly received.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58503\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad-2.jpg 400w, https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Rwanda-Coffee-Festival-Islamabad-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also pointed out that Pakistani rice\u2014both basmati and non-basmati\u2014is not only consumed in Rwanda but also re-exported to other African countries.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides stressed the importance of establishing a direct Pakistan\u2013Rwanda supply chain to reduce reliance on transshipment through third countries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Rwandan side shared that discussions with Pakistan\u2019s maritime authorities were underway to cut shipping times and costs, noting that current shipment durations of up to 45 days could be significantly reduced through direct connectivity.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The two ministers also reviewed progress on the proposed Memorandum of Understanding on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which has been exchanged through diplomatic channels.<\/p>\n<p>The Rwandan side indicated that only minor technical adjustments remained and expressed confidence that the MoU could be finalized shortly, providing a strong institutional framework for cooperation in trade, manufacturing, investment, tourism, and logistics.<\/p>\n<p>The engagement further explored collaboration in light engineering, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, agricultural equipment, mining and minerals, as well as technology-driven sectors such as IT, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Harerimana Fatou, High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Pakistan, Mr. Claude Bizimana, Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Export Board (NAEB), Rwanda, diplomatic missions, Members of Parliament and Business community and delegates from Rwanda .<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In his address, Honorable Prudence Sebahizi, Minister of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Rwanda, underscored Rwanda\u2019s transformation into a leading producer of high-quality specialty coffee through innovation, rigorous quality standards, and sustainability-focused policies expressed appreciation for Pakistan\u2019s warm hospitality and reaffirmed Rwanda\u2019s strong commitment to deepening economic engagement with Pakistan. He also highlighted Rwanda\u2019s premium Arabica coffee, renowned for its exceptional quality, diversity of flavor profiles, and sustainable production practices.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister underscored the significant opportunity to introduce Rwandan coffee to Pakistan\u2019s expanding consumer market and to establish direct sourcing and long-term partnerships with Pakistani importers and businesses. He also stated that \u2018We are at the center of Africa. We have access to African market, and through African Free Trade Area, to more than 1.2 billion people.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Minister for Commerce of Pakistan, Honorable Jam Kamal Khan, welcomed Minister of Trade and Industry of Rwanda to Pakistan and congratulated the Rwanda High Commission on organizing the first-ever Rwanda Coffee Festival in Pakistan and commended the initiative for opening new avenues of bilateral trade and private-sector cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The festival featured a vibrant Rwandan cultural dance performance, offering guests an evocative glimpse into Rwanda\u2019s rich cultural heritage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong> Five leading coffee companies from Rwanda participated in the exhibition, showcasing diverse coffee varieties and engaging directly with Pakistani importers, coffee professionals, investors, and consumers.
