As Pakistan has confirmed its inclination towards General Haftar in Libya , the Government of National Unity in Tripoli has decided to foster relations with India in a tit for tat like state of affairs. Haftar’s of East Libya are visiting Pakistan while Pakistani Field Marshal visited Haftar’s Libya in Dec 2025. The GNU in Tripoli has been monitoring the strides from both sides and finally put its weight in Indian side.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Taher Al-Baour, arrived New Delhi on 30 Jan 2026 to participate in India Arab Summit and held meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and FM Jaishankar. He discussed economic cooperation with leading businessmen of India.<\/p>\n

Taher Al-Baour, on Friday discussed with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar ways to strengthen Libyan-Indian relations across various fields, particularly academic cooperation, scientific research, and health cooperation, through activating previous agreements on training and qualifying medical staff and technical assistants.<\/p>\n

The talks took place during Jaishankar\u2019s reception of Al-Baour on the sidelines of the second India\u2013Arab Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting (IAFMM), which begins on Saturday, according to a statement by the Libyan ministry.\"\"<\/p>\n

The meeting also addressed cooperation in capacity-building and joint training programmes, election management, and technical cooperation (ITEC), especially in prosthetics, vocational training, humanitarian assistance, and development.<\/p>\n

Both sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest. Al-Baour also briefed his counterpart on political and security developments in Libya and efforts to enhance stability and security, highlighting their role in attracting foreign investment, particularly in the energy and oil sectors and other vital areas.<\/p>\n

The two sides agreed to continue bilateral coordination and consultations in pursuit of the shared interests of the Libyan and Indian peoples.<\/p>\n

Libya is participating in the India\u2013Arab Foreign Ministers\u2019 Meeting with a high-level delegation headed by Al-Baour, alongside all 22 Arab states represented at foreign minister level, as well as other ministers, ministers of state, senior officials, and the Arab League.\"\"<\/p>\n

During his visit to India, Taher Al-Baour, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Tripoli based Libyan government, met with the chairmen and CEOs of several Indian companies specializing in energy, development, infrastructure, and transportation.<\/p>\n

Al-Baour had been in India participating in last Saturday\u2019s (31 January) opening session of the Second Meeting of Foreign Ministers from India and Arab states in New Delhi.<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting reviewed existing cooperation between Libya and India and explored ways to strengthen economic and investment partnerships to serve the mutual interests of both countries and contribute to supporting sustainable development efforts and implementing priority development projects in Libya.<\/p>\n

Both sides emphasized the importance of consolidating Libyan Indian bilateral relations and building upon the historical ties between the two countries to enhance cooperation opportunities in vital sectors and support the exchange of expertise between Libyan institutions and Indian companies.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the meeting, the importance of continued communication and coordination between relevant authorities in both countries was emphasized, along with the need to develop appropriate frameworks for activating areas of cooperation, thereby contributing to expanding and enhancing bilateral relations.<\/p>\n
