This\u00a0second phase of flights\u00a0announced today\u00a0will carry more than 2,250 travellers.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0new\u00a0flights are\u00a0as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>30 April: Karachi to London, Islamabad to Manchester<\/li>\n<li>1 May: Lahore to London, Islamabad to Manchester<\/li>\n<li>2 May: Islamabad to Manchester, Lahore to Manchester<\/li>\n<li>4 May: Islamabad to London<\/li>\n<li>5 May: Lahore to Manchester, Islamabad to Manchester<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There has been a huge demand for these flights, with seats for Lahore and Islamabad now being allocated to those already registered via the\u00a0Government\u2019s\u00a0online booking\u00a0website\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0CTM.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0portal is\u00a0now\u00a0open for those who would like to book on the Karachi flight. Anyone who would like to return to the UK from Karachi should\u00a0register their\u00a0interest\u00a0on the portal as future flights will be based on wait lists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FCO\u00a0Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Lord (Tariq) Ahmad of Wimbledon, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThousands more British nationals in Pakistan will now be able to fly home following the announcement of these nine extra flights, which include our first from Karachi.\u00a0They will join\u00a0more than 10,500 people\u00a0who will have already flown home\u00a0from Pakistan\u00a0on\u00a0commercial options and\u00a0more than 2,500 on charter flights.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis\u00a0remains\u00a0a hugely challenging\u00a0logistical\u00a0operation.\u00a0I\u00a0am grateful for the\u00a0cooperation of the Pakistani\u00a0authorities, the patience of the British people we are working to help, and the\u00a0hard work of those\u00a0making it happen.<\/em>\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p><strong>British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Christian Turner, said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMore than 10,500 people have returned home by commercial routes since airspace in Pakistan closed, and by Monday we expect that a further 2,500 British Nationals will have flown back to the UK on our first 10 charter flights.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe know there is more to do, and I\u2019m pleased that there will be a further nine chartered flights next week; eight from Islamabad and Lahore; and one from Karachi to London Heathrow.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAs we start the\u00a0holy month of Ramazan,\u00a0a time for people to reunite with their families\u00a0and a time for reflection, I am glad that travellers will be able to make it home and be with their loved ones at this special time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad; Almost 5,000 British travellers in Pakistan are to be brought home to the UK following the announcement\u00a0today of a\u00a0further nine\u00a0Government-chartered flights.
