Iran Military has shared as confirmed that 03 US destroyers \u00a0USS Truxton, USS Mason, and USS Rafael Peralta were attacked by Iranian missiles, drones, and small boats near the Strait of Hormuz by the Iranian Navy on Thursday night. Iranian spokesman said the US violated a ceasefire on Thursday night by targeting two Iranian oil tankers near the Strait of Hormuz and carrying out aerial attacks on civilian areas in southern Iran, adding that Iranian Armed Forces retaliated against US military vessels in the region.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

The US side has shared that Iranian media boasts of hits on US vessels, but CENTCOM reports every threat was intercepted. American forces sank multiple Iranian attack boats instead, with no damage to US ships.<\/p>\n

Iran’s Press TV later reported that, following several hours of fire, “the situation on Iranian islands and coastal cities by the Strait of Hormuz is back to normal now.”<\/p>\n

Iranian sources said the destroyers were retreating toward the Sea of Oman after Iran\u2019s attack. The\u00a0 attacks on the hostile US destroyers were carried out using missiles and suicide drones.<\/p>\n

CBS News also reported that three US Navy destroyers transiting the Strait of Hormuz came under attack on Thursday, adding that the US carried out strikes on two Iranian ports near the strait.<\/p>\n

The US military\u2019s Central Command confirmed the attacks in a statement and claimed that the US military responded with \u201cself-defense strikes\u201d on Iranian facilities.<\/p>\n

The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has stated that Iranian military forces used \u201cvarious types of ballistic and anti-ship cruise missiles and destructive drones with high-explosive warheads\u201d in response to the US violations of the ceasefire.<\/p>\n

In a statement on the Thursday night clashes in southern Iran, the spokesman for Iran\u2019s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said<\/strong>, \u201cThe aggressive, terrorist and marauding US military violated the ceasefire by targeting an Iranian oil tanker sailing from Iran\u2019s coastal waters in the Jask region toward the Strait of Hormuz, as well as another vessel entering the Strait of Hormuz off the UAE port of Fujairah.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that \u201cat the same time, civilian areas were subjected to aerial attacks with the cooperation of some regional countries along the coasts of Bandar Khamir, Sirik and Qeshm Island.\u201d<\/p>\n

The flare-up in fighting came as Washington awaited a response from Tehran to its proposal to end the conflict, which began with joint U.S.-Israeli airstrikes across Iran on February 28.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n

President Donald Trump said on Thursday three U.S. Navy destroyers were attacked as they moved through the strait, a conduit for around a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas flows that Iran has all but closed since the conflict started.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Three World Class American Destroyers just transited, very successfully, out of the Strait of Hormuz, under fire. There was no damage done to the three Destroyers, but great damage done to the Iranian \u2060attackers,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Trump later told reporters the ceasefire was still in effect and sought to play down the exchange.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Iran’s top joint military command accused the U.S. of violating the ceasefire by targeting an Iranian oil tanker and another ship, and of carrying out air attacks on civilian areas on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby coastal areas. The military said it responded by attacking U.S. military vessels east of the strait and south of the port of Chabahar.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The two sides have occasionally exchanged gunfire since the ceasefire took effect on April 7, with Iran hitting targets in Gulf countries including the UAE.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
