Pakistan and Africa expressed their keen desire to strengthen cooperation in all spheres and showed their common resolve to tap the real potential of economic partnership, particularly in Water Safety on Africa Day celebration in Islamabad on 12 June 2026. The celebration was jointly arranged by the African missions in Pakistan. They included Algeria, Ethiopia, Egypt,Libya, Morocco, Mauritius, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Tunisia,Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan and Zimbabwe.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The ambassadors and high commissioners of African Missions welcomed the guests and offered tasty food and traditional artcrafts and cultural items at their stalls to the interest of the participants who attended the event in large number at Serena Hotels Islamabad. Africa has dedicated this year as the Year of Water.<\/p>\n

Pakistan is also tackling the issue of scarcity of water and dealing with adversary measures from India that holds the natural resource at upstream in occupied Kashmir. Pakistan’s Engage Africa Policy reflects its commitment to expanding and deepening political, economic and cultural relations with African countries on a sustainable basis.<\/p>\n

The Ambassador of Zimbabwe to Pakistan is H.E. Titus Mehliswa Johnathan Abu-Basutu delivered the keynote address and welcomed the guests. He shed light on the background of the celebration as annual day by all African countries. Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s look africa policy and expressed hope that it will further increase trade and connectivity of Pakistan with African nations.<\/p>\n

Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar represented the government of Pakistan as chief guest. Additional secretary Africa at MOFA Amb Hamid Asghar Khan, President Pakistan Africa Institute of Development and Research PAIDAR, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Secretary Interparliamentary Speakers Conference Ms Misbah Khar were also present.<\/p>\n

The chief guest proposed establishing a joint Pakistan-Africa cultural forum to strengthen people-to-people ties, enhance musical and cultural exchanges, and promote positive image of both sides. The minister also proposed greater exchanges of musical troupes between Pakistan and African countries, saying Africa\u2019s cultural traditions had been preserved over generations and offered valuable opportunities for mutual learning.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0said Pakistan views Africa not only as a diplomatic partner but also as a central pillar of its broader foreign policy outreach. He mentioned that Pakistan has steadily expanded its diplomatic network across Africa in recent years.<\/p>\n
