Under the patronage of the Acting Minister of Media, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA), Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the First UNA Virtual Forum, entitled “The Role of News Agencies in Supporting Anti-Coronavirus Efforts”, is being held\u00a0 Saturday, 23 Ramadan 1441 AH (16 May 2020).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
H.E. Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and H.E. Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Hajjar, the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, will participants in the forum as well as the Directors of News Agencies in the OIC countries, and the Permanent Representatives to the Organization.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The forum aims to highlight the role of news agencies as reliable sources of information in spreading awareness about the coronavirus pandemic.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It will also provides an opportunity for the news agencies to exchange their experiences in disseminating knowledge and truthful information, in addition to refuting fake news and rumors. It further seeks to prepare a guide manual and recommendations to document these experiences.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
During the forum, the Acting Media Minister, Chairman of the UNA Executive Council will launch, the annual program of the virtual activities and training, which will benefit 2,200 media professionals from the OIC countries, as an implementation of the General Assembly resolution that recommended the organization of training workshops for the employees of the agencies to train them on the latest technologies and work practices, as well as promoting communication among them.<\/div>\n

On this occasion, the Assistant Director of the Union of OIC News Agencies Zayed Sultan Abdullah praised the generous care and support of the Union and its various programs and projects by the Government<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
