Chief Executive Officer , Pakistan International Airlines , the recently privatised national airline of Pakistan, Air Vice Marshal R Amir Hayat Sultan is not hopeful to start a direct flight of PIA to Tashkent , Uzbekistan until unless Uzbekistan softens its visa regime for Pakistanis. He says that visa is hard therefore the number of Pakistanis traveling to Uzbekistan is not that much that we start a flight.<\/p>\n

In a discussion with this scribe at Francophone concluding event at a local hotel in Islamabad, he responded this to a question on when PIA is starting a direct flight in reciprocation of Uzbekistan Airlines that is running 2 each direct flights between Tashkent , Islamabad and Lahore.<\/p>\n

Pakistani officials , especially former military officials do not like counter questions but matter of fact is the CEO of PIA needs to study the case again as his basic concept does not seem to be clear on the matter.<\/p>\n

If Uzbekistan visa regime is hard then how Uzbekistan Airlines is operating direct flights and another Uzbek airline \u201cCentrum\u201d has also launched direct flight from April this year. Uzbekistan Airlines is operating 4 flights on the Tashkent \u2013 Lahore route. 2 flights on the Tashkent \u2013 Islamabad route and next planning is for Karachi.<\/p>\n

Definitely , the Uzbek Airlines are not operating empty flights. There are passengers from Islamabad and Lahore and they certainly travel on a Visa that is issued from the Uzbekistan Embassy obviously.<\/p>\n

Here it is only for the additional information of the CEO of PIA and also for Pakistani Immigration Authorities that many Pakistanis are now slipping in Uzbekistan to explore their future in Central Asia or to travel to Eurasia.<\/p>\n

Some Pakistanis have been found in Uzbekistan who are doing the same thing they do in Saudi Arabia especially during Hajj season\u2026\u2026\u2026\u2026.. \u201d Begging\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n
