He has expressed gratitude to the leadership of Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and friendly countries for the peace process, and also stressed the need for a strong regional security system based on friendship and cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>The people of Pakistan were expecting some movement on import of Iranian petrol that is cheaper and available on the border but no such thing came under discussion to the extreme disappointment of the public of the country that is recieving appreciations for mediation between US and Iran and that has no hurdle in the way to buy Iranian petrol and provide the people on cheaper rates, possible half than the availble fuel in the market.<\/p>\n<p>On his visit to Pakistan , the President held delegation level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and later both leaders addressed a joint news conference. Separate to these engagements, in the meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, from Pakistani side DPM\/ FM Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defense Field Marshal COAS General Asim Munir were also present.<\/p>\n<p>The Iranian President was accompanied by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Chief of the President\u2019s Office Mr. Mohsen Haji Mirzaei, Minister of Interior Mr. Eskandar Momeni, Saeed Abbas Mousavi Chief of Political Affairs of President\u2019s Office and Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam.<\/p>\n<p>Iran&#8217;s Ballistic Missile Program<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders categorically rejected reports that Iran\u2019s ballistic missile program was also discussed under the Islamabad MoU. President Pezeshkian clarified that Iran\u2019s missile capability is only for national defense and was never part of the negotiations.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also clarified that ballistic missiles were neither discussed nor included in the agreement. He said, \u201cI want to state without any fear of contradiction that ballistic missiles were never a subject of discussion between Iran and the United States. President said that he had constructive meetings with Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, in which bilateral relations and the situation in the region were discussed.<\/p>\n<p>Iranian President called Pakistan not just a neighboring country but a brotherly Islamic country. He said that the message of unity of the Muslim Ummah is as important and effective today as it was in the past, Pakistan and Iran are one soul, two forms, both countries are partners in a common future and destination. Pakistan played an excellent role in the negotiation process, and we recognize Pakistan&#8217;s important role for peace, development and prosperity. The signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding was possible due to trust in Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday warmly welcomed Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and his delegation to Pakistan amid reaffirming Islamabad\u2019s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties across multiple sectors, including trade, economic development, infrastructure and reconstruction, and promoting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The president said in Tehran before leaving for Islamabad, discussions during the visit will focus on expanding cooperation in trade, economy, culture, security, defense, and broader regional peace and stability.<\/p>\n<p>During his opening remarks at the delegation-level talks, the Prime Minister said it was a great pleasure to receive the Iranian President in Islamabad and thanked him for accepting his invitation to visit Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said, \u201cI have no doubt that the brave and resilient people of Iran, with their immense capabilities and natural resources, will transform their country into a flourishing economy.\u201d Pakistan and Iran would continue joint efforts to achieve shared prosperity, he added.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister thanked the Iranian leadership for trusting Pakistan\u2019s sincere and honest mediation efforts and assured Tehran that Pakistan would continue to play a constructive role in promoting lasting peace.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrue brotherhood requires no questions or answers,\u201d the Prime Minister remarked, emphasizing that Pakistan would continue supporting peace initiatives based on dignity, honour and mutual respect.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister conveyed his warm regards to Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader and praised the Iranian leadership for its efforts that led to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the achievement of a ceasefire with \u201cdignity and honour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Expressing solidarity with the people of Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered his deepest condolences over the loss of innocent lives, including children, women, boys and girls, during the recent conflict. He commended President Pezeshkian\u2019s sagacious, calm and vigilant leadership that had helped pave the way for a more peaceful future.<\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the role of Pakistan\u2019s military leadership, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif particularly acknowledged the efforts of Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, whom he credited with working tirelessly to facilitate dialogue and support the signing of the MoU.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe worked untiringly through difficult days and nights with one mission: to do everything humanly possible to stop a war that could have brought devastation across vast regions,\u201d the prime minister said.<\/p>\n<p>He also referred to the first technical-level session held in Switzerland and thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi for their diplomatic engagements and shuttle diplomacy efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister further appreciated the support extended by Qatar and other brotherly countries for advancing the peace initiative.<\/p>\n<p>He also lauded the contributions of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for their support and efforts toward regional stability.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz Sharif noted that he had informed Parliament about President Pezeshkian\u2019s visit and said the people of Pakistan were delighted to welcome the Iranian leader.<\/p>\n<p>Reaffirming the close ties between the two neighbouring countries, he stated, \u201cIran and Pakistan are brothers, and we stand together in times of happiness and sorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Addressing speculation regarding the contents of the MoU, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif clarified that ballistic missiles were neither included in the agreement nor discussed during negotiations, as the issue was not on the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>He cautioned against any misunderstanding regarding the agreement and suggested that certain elements had attempted to undermine peace efforts.
