In a statement released early on Monday, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry called on Israel \u201cto reconsider this decision.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated\u00a0 that “distorting the historical truth about the events of 1915” and\u00a0 turning complex historical processes into a political decision, far\u00a0 removed from legal and scientific foundations, is unacceptable.<\/p>\n

“Such steps do not promote reconciliation and mutual understanding,\u00a0 but rather further deepen existing contradictions and hinder efforts\u00a0 to ensure sustainable peace and reconciliation in the region. We call\u00a0 on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision.<\/p>\n

Azerbaijan will\u00a0 continue to consistently maintain its position in protecting\u00a0 historical truth, respecting the principles of international law, and\u00a0 promoting sustainable peace in the region,” the Azerbaijani Foreign\u00a0 Ministry said in statement.<\/p>\n

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said, the government does not see a need to respond to the recent recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the state of Israel. He stated this on June 29 while speaking with journalists, in response to a question regarding why Armenia has remained silent following the Israeli government’s formal recognition of the\u00a0 genocide.<\/p>\n

“We do not see a necessity for a formal response. We believe that\u00a0 avoiding the ‘militarization’ of the issue\u2014regarding the recognition\u00a0 of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire\u2014is in Armenia’s best\u00a0 interest,” Pashinyan said, adding that he considers further comment\u00a0 on the matter unnecessary.<\/p>\n
