Pakistan appreciates the resilience of the nation of Rwanda and their commitment to make their homeland a developed , prosperous and peaceful country. These sentiments were conveyed by Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice at Kwibohora 32 (32nd Liberation Day of the Republic of Rwanda) that was celebrated in Islamabad on 04 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>High Commissioner H.E. Harerimana Fatouin hosted a grand reception at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad, to commemorate the national day. Minister graced the event as the Chief Guest. Other prominent guests included Chairman Standing Committee Defense in Senate , Talha Mehmood, Additional Secretary MOFA Amb Hamid Asghar Khan, Dean of Diplomatic Corp Amb Turkmenistan Atadjan Movlamov, Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz Akbar MNA, Ambassadors and High Commissioners of African and other countries.<\/p>\n<p>The high commission was opened in Islamabad only two years ago in July 2024 and in this short period of time , Rwanda H.C has done a lot to introduce their country and bulid a strong basis to further maintain and enhance close, cordial relations as well as economic cooperation with Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The event brought together members of the Rwandan community in Pakistan, Friends of Rwanda, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, ambassadors, high commissioners, business leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, media representatives, and other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n<p>The reception celebrated Rwanda&#8217;s remarkable journey of transformation, resilience, unity, and sustainable development over the past three decades. Guests gathered to honor the country&#8217;s achievements while reaffirming the growing ties and cooperation between Rwanda and Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\"><strong>H.E. Harerimana Fatou, the High Commissioner<\/strong><\/span> , in her welcome remarks, highlighted the significance of Kwibohora as a defining moment in Rwanda&#8217;s history and reflected on the country&#8217;s extraordinary progress since liberation.<\/p>\n<p>She recognized the brave Rwandans who stopped the Genocide against the Tutsi and liberated the country. She paid tribute to the Rwanda Patriotic Army (RPA) and the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during this period of struggle, stating that their devotion, courage, and heroism will never be forgotten.<\/p>\n<p>The high commissioner further highlighted that, through the hard work, determination, and visionary leadership of the Rwanda Patriotic Front (RPF), led by H.E. The reception was attended by a large and distinguished audience, reflecting the strong goodwill and friendship that Rwanda enjoys within Pakistan&#8217;s diplomatic, governmental, and business communities.<\/p>\n<p>Guests experienced Rwanda&#8217;s rich cultural heritage through vibrant Rwandan music, creating a warm and festive atmosphere throughout the evening. The two countries continue to deepen collaboration in defence, trade and investment, health, education, parliamentary diplomacy, gender equality, human rights, agriculture, and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>At the multilateral level, Rwanda and Pakistan work closely within international forums, particularly the United Nations, where they cooperate on peacekeeping operations, support each other&#8217;s candidatures, and engage on global priorities including climate change, green energy, sustainable development, and other Commonwealth and international initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The relationship continues to grow through high-level exchanges, institutional partnerships, and expanding people-to-people ties, reflecting the shared aspiration of both countries to promote peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Naeem Khan, H.C of Pakistan in Kigali, Rwanda says, <\/strong>\u00a0Rwanda is the center of Africa and there is huge potential of enhancing cooperation in all spheres including trade, investment, tourism, education, textile, agriculture, AI and others. Land is very cheap there that encourages agriculture and other joint ventures in this sector including agricultural machinery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kwibohora (Rwanda Liberation Day)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kwibohora, meaning &#8220;Liberation&#8221; in Kinyarwanda, is celebrated annually on 4 July and is one of Rwanda&#8217;s most significant national holidays. It commemorates the liberation of Rwanda in 1994, when the Rwandan Patriotic Army (RPA) stopped the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi by securing Kigali and restoring peace and security.<\/p>\n<p>Kwibohora symbolizes more than a military victory. It marks the beginning of Rwanda&#8217;s journey of national unity, reconciliation, peace, security, and socio-economic transformation.
