Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi co-chaired the 8th Session of the Pakistan\u2013Oman Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad today.<\/p>\n<p>The two sides reaffirmed their close fraternal ties and commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment, maritime and logistics connectivity, agriculture, industry, energy, workforce mobility, human resource development, education, IT, media and climate change, among other areas.<\/p>\n<p>Both Ministers emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people ties, facilitating workforce mobility, and promoting exchanges of business delegations from both countries to unlock new opportunities for trade, investment and institutional collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>DPM\/FM stressed the need for timely implementation of agreed outcomes through close institutional coordination and sustained engagement between Joint Working Group meetings.<\/p>\n<p>The Omani Foreign Minister thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality, appreciated Pakistan\u2019s efforts for regional peace and security, and reaffirmed Oman\u2019s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding partnership between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador of Oman Fahad Bin Sulaiman Bin Khalaf Alkharusi was also present at the occasion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Remarks by the Deputy Prime Minister\/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar @MIshaqDar50 during Joint Press Stakeout with the Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Sayyid Badr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Albusaidi (14 October 2026)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>He said the discussions were held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, reflecting the deep-rooted bonds of friendship, mutual trust, and brotherhood that have characterized Pakistan-Oman relations. It reflects our shared resolve to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Later today, we will sign the Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Special, Service and Official Passports.<\/p>\n<p>This significant step will facilitate official exchanges and contribute to closer engagement between our two brotherly countries. A number of bilateral agreements will also be signed, covering news and information exchange; communications and information technology; historical documentation, records and archives management; and media cooperation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Industrial Framework<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A key outcome of this session is the strengthening of our institutional framework through the establishment and operationalization of several Joint Working Groups, including in the fields of Trade and Investment; Agriculture; Oil and Gas; Labour and Human Resource Development. These mechanisms will ensure regular engagement and effective implementation of the decisions taken by the Joint Ministerial Commission.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The 8th Session of the Pakistan\u2013Oman Joint Ministerial Commission Islamabad\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Plm73s6nbLY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Business Connectivity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The sides welcomed closer engagement between the business communities of the two countries and encouraged greater investment in Special Economic Zones and Free Zones.<br \/>\nWe also acknowledged the valuable contribution of the Pakistani community in Oman, which continues to serve as a strong bridge between our two brotherly countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in labour mobility, vocational training, and human resource development to create new opportunities for skilled Pakistani professionals and workers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Gulf Situation \/ Hormuz \/ Bab al Mandeb<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The sides exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Gulf, underscoring the importance of restraint, de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy. We highlighted the need to ensure the safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb, given their critical importance to regional and global food and energy security. Pakistan remains committed to contributing constructively to diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.<\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0 discussions, we also exchanged views on the recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. I conveyed Pakistan\u2019s strongest condemnation of the attack, which resulted in injuries to several individuals, martyrdom of one Pakistani and injuries to five Pakistani nationals.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"hL39UqmOer\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/sultanate-of-oman-54th-national-day-development-in-all-sectors-under-the-leadership-of-h-m-sultan-haitham-bin-tarik\/\">Sultanate of Oman @ 54th National Day &#8211; Development in All Sectors &#8211; under the Leadership of H.M. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik&#8221; &#8212; Pakistan In the World\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/sultanate-of-oman-54th-national-day-development-in-all-sectors-under-the-leadership-of-h-m-sultan-haitham-bin-tarik\/embed\/#?secret=IeF7MiSvIG#?secret=hL39UqmOer\" data-secret=\"hL39UqmOer\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Attacks on Civilians<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pakistani side underscored that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable, violate international law, and pose a serious threat to regional peace and security. DPM\/FM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s full solidarity with the leadership and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as our unwavering commitment to the Kingdom\u2019s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security, in accordance with the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Palestine \/ Kashmir<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Pakistan reiterated our principled and unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their inalienable rights. The sides expressed concern over the continued expansion of illegal settlements and efforts to alter the status of Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The sides emphasized the urgent need for the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza and reaffirmed our support for a just and lasting solution in accordance with relevant UN resolutions.<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan also raised the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, which remains a long-standing unresolved international dispute. I reiterated Pakistan\u2019s call for its just and peaceful resolution in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Afghanistan &#8211; Indus Water Treaty<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sides also discussed regional developments including the situation in Afghanistan and the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan stressed the imperative of ensuring that Afghan territory is not used to carry out activities against Pakistan. Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan emphasized that India&#8217;s unilateral decision to hold the Treaty in abeyance constitutes a material breach of international law and represents a dangerous attempt to weaponize shared water resources. This action threatens the water, food and energy security of Pakistan&#8217;s 250 million people.<\/p>\n<p>Finally , Mr. Dar thanked Foreign Minister of Oman and the distinguished Omani delegation for their constructive engagement and valuable contribution to the success of the JMC session.
