\"\"Islamabad; 28 July 2020 – The Islamabad High Court<\/a>\u00a0(IHC<\/a>) on Tuesday sought detailed comments\u00a0from<\/a>\u00a0the information ministry and\u00a0Pakistan<\/a>\u00a0Television<\/a>\u00a0(PTV<\/a>) on a petition challenging the appointments of members of\u00a0PTV<\/a>‘s\u00a0board<\/a>\u00a0of directors (BoDs).<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0court<\/a>\u00a0also clubbed\u00a0all<\/a>\u00a0identical petitions related to the\u00a0ptv<\/a>\u00a0and adjourned the\u00a0hearing<\/a>\u00a0till\u00a0August<\/a>\u00a021.<\/h3>\n

Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani conducted the\u00a0hearing<\/a>\u00a0against the appointment of chairman, managing director (MD) and members of\u00a0PTV<\/a>‘s BoDs.<\/h3>\n

The petitioner’s lawyer pleaded that Arshad Khan had been appointed\u00a0PTV<\/a>\u00a0MD after he resigned\u00a0from<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0post<\/a>\u00a0of chairman of state run\u00a0tv<\/a>\u00a0channel. He argued that rules and procedures were not followed in the appointment of Khan and other members of the BoDs.<\/h3>\n

He further contended that the\u00a0Supreme Court<\/a>\u00a0had already set guidelines for the appointments on the\u00a0top<\/a>\u00a0slots of\u00a0PTV<\/a>\u00a0in a case pertaining to Atta ul Haq Qasmi.<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0PTV<\/a>‘s lawyer pleaded that the petitioner had the secret documents and summaries pertaining to the appointment.<\/h3>\n

To this, Justice Kiyani said the\u00a0government<\/a>\u00a0should look into the matter that how the official record was leaked.<\/h3>\n

The petitioner said the members also did not meet the required qualification for their\u00a0post<\/a>\u00a0pertaining to the age and\u00a0education<\/a>.<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0court<\/a>\u00a0observed that those were controversial facts and there was need of detailed reply\u00a0from<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0PTV<\/a>\u00a0on it.<\/h3>\n

The\u00a0court<\/a>\u00a0sought detailed answers\u00a0from<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0PTV<\/a>‘s BoDs and adjourned the case till next\u00a0date<\/a>.<\/h3>\n
