{"id":7508,"date":"2020-09-17T07:55:40","date_gmt":"2020-09-17T07:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/?p=7508"},"modified":"2020-09-17T07:55:40","modified_gmt":"2020-09-17T07:55:40","slug":"usaid-delivers-340-metric-tons-of-vitamin-mineral-enriched-food-for-malnutritioned-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/usaid-delivers-340-metric-tons-of-vitamin-mineral-enriched-food-for-malnutritioned-children\/","title":{"rendered":"USAID delivers 340 Metric Tons of Vitamin &#038; Mineral Enriched Food for Malnutritioned Children"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7509\" src=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/usaid-reading-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/usaid-reading-1.jpg 500w, https:\/\/pakistanintheworld.pk\/live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/usaid-reading-1-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/>Islamabad; 17 Sep 2020 &#8211; Together, the government of Pakistan and the United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are delivering 340 metric tons of vitamin and mineral-enriched food for Pakistani children who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition.<\/h3>\n<h3>According to the National Nutrition Survey jointly published by the Government of Pakistan and the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF) in 2018, more than 40 percent of Pakistani children under the age of five suffer long-term health problems because of severe malnutrition. \u00a0Most of these malnourished children live in Pakistan&#8217;s rural areas.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cWe commend the Government of Pakistan\u2019s efforts to include improved nutrition at the core of its development agenda,\u201d said USAID\/Pakistan Mission Director Julie Koenen. \u00a0\u201cWe are proud to contribute to maintaining the availably of nutritious food to Pakistani children in need despite the operational challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. \u00a0Good nutrition is key to the health and development of young Pakistanis, and a healthy population is critical to Pakistan\u2019s overall economic growth.\u201d<\/h3>\n<h3>This collaboration also helps support Pakistan\u2019s national nutrition policy framework and increases the capacity of the health system and civil society to ensure treatment of more than 24,500 children suffering from severe acute malnutrition.<\/h3>\n<h3>The fortified food project is being implemented by UNICEF in partnership with the Government of Pakistan\u2019s nutrition and health departments and civil society organizations.<\/h3>\n<h3>As part of its long-standing partnership with Pakistan, the United States Government is committed to improving food and nutrition security for Pakistanis. \u00a0Since 2009, USAID has contributed more than $800 million to Pakistan\u2019s food and nutrition efforts.<\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Islamabad; 17 Sep 2020 &#8211; Together, the government of Pakistan and the United States Government, through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), are delivering 340 metric tons of vitamin and mineral-enriched food for Pakistani children who are suffering from severe acute malnutrition.
