“Pink Power Day – Lets Fight, Believe and Hope” @ City School Gulraiz Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi(Raja Burhan ul Haqq) Cancer is spreading in large number of people in Pakistan. Number of women victims of breast cancer is increasing alarmingly. As the month of Oct has been dedicated for the awareness on cancer, City School Gulraiz Rawalpindi held an activity “Pink Power Day – Lets Fight, Believe and Hope” in which the children of the school and their parents took part vehemently and contributed toward the awareness campaign.
The school administration adorned the lawn with the art work of the students in which they conveyed the messages for healthy life to keep the cancer away from them. There were stalls of food, toys, gift packs and reading material for the children and the parents.
The Principal Ms Aysha Khan shared with media that cancer awareness is arranged in this month that is why we took this initiative to make our children prepared for this cause. We have educated them about the basic knowledge of this deadly disease. They are now volunteers of this awareness campaign for the well being of humanity.
Pink Power Day initiative is aimed at preparing the children to support the patients and do the kind contribution for their help. We do not use the word Charity but it is a contribution. Children need holistic learning other than books as well. This activity will provide them the opportunity to learn what they can do in their practical life.
The students belonging to early classes presented the Tableaus in which they conveyed the message of Pink Power to the participants. They also took part in quiz competition regarding what is cancer and how we can remain save. The children answered the questions accurately with full confidence to the astonishment of the audience.
Ms Shehla Abid, a surviving patient of cancer was warmly welcomed by the principal on stage. She introduced the guest as a symbol of courage to fight the disease. Shehla is mother of Shafaq Abid who is student of the same school. Ms Shehla was presented special shield by the Principal.
The children who took part in the activities were encouraged with awards. The parents while sharing their views with media appreciated the holding of pink power day. They said that such activities are necessary for the children’s grooming.
