Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Khazar Farhadov held extensive discussions with Federal Ministers of Defense, Defense Production, Aviation, IT and Telecommunication in connection to follow up the outcome of the meeting of President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Baku last week. The Prime Minister on return to Islamabad appreciated the Ambassador in an event held for awards distribution to the talented youth of Pakistan.
Mr. Khazar Farhadov discussed bilateral cooperation and to explore new venues of partnership and joint ventures between the two brotherly countries. Ambassador also called on Chairman of Capital Development Authority Islamabad.
In meeting with Defense Minister, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, both parties exchanged views on mutual cooperation in defense and expressed satisfaction on the cordial atmosphere at both sides. Defense Minister reiterated Pakistan’s support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Republic of Azerbaijan. The two sides discussed the prospects of further enhancing the defense and defense training cooperation.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov met with Mr. Muhammad Israr Tareen, Federal Minister of Defence Production of Pakistan and co-chairperson of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
While welcoming the distinguished guest, the Federal Minister said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Azerbaijan. Acknowledging the importance of relations between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, the Federal Minister said that both countries have good and brotherly relations and want to continue with the same momentum.
In meeting with Minister Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafiq , the two sides held talk on the proposed direct flights between two countries. Pakistan International Airlines started flights for Baku but the flight operation was suspended later due to COVID and less number of travelers from Pakistan. Both countries are working on the flights from both sides as soon as possible. Pakistan Azerbaijan leadership agreed to restore the flight operation in their meeting in Baku last week. Azer Airline is about to reciprocate to PIA flight operation for Baku.
Azerbaijan is interested in exchange of expertise in IT and Telecommunication with Pakistan. Ambassador’s meeting with Minister Amin ul Haqq focused on digitization and connectivity through IT. The minister assured every cooperation in this regard.
Ambassador called on Mr. Noor-ul-Amin Mengal, Chairman of Capital Development Authority, Islamabad and presented him the shield of 30 years of Azerbaijan Pakistan Relations.
