Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif visits the embassy of Myanmar

ISLAMABAD: April 4, 2025 – The Prime Minister visited the Embassy of Myanmar in Islamabad today and signed the Condolence Book, opened by the Embassy in the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on 28 March 2025.

The Prime Minister was warmly received by the Ambassador of Myanmar H.E. Wunna Han, who thanked the Prime Minister for his visit and also for the relief goods provided by Pakistan for those affected by the earth quake in Myanmar.

The Prime Minister conveyed deepest condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to the Government and people of Myanmar on the tragic loss of precious lives and widespread destruction caused by the earthquake.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that in this hour of grief, Pakistan stood with Myanmar in a spirit of friendship and compassion. He admired the courage and resilience of the people of Myanmar in the face of adversity and expressed solidarity for their swift recovery and rebuilding in the days to come.

Pakistan Dispatches First Flight of Humanitarian Aid for Earthquake affectees in Myanmar

The Ambassador of Myanmar, while appreciating the Prime Minister’s gracious gesture, conveyed best wishes for him and the people of Pakistan, from the Myanmar leadership.

On March 31, 2025,  Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke today with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council/ Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and conveyed deepest condolences on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan over the loss of precious lives and property due to the devastating earthquake in Myanmar on 28 March, 2025.

The Prime Minister assured the Prime Minister of Myanmar that Pakistan stood ready to provide any assistance to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the earthquake.

On, April 1, 2025, on directions of Prime Minister of Pakistan, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has planned and coordinated to dispatch 70 tons of emergency humanitarian relief to Myanmar through two chartered flights in response to the recent catastrophic earthquake.

As part of this initiative, the first air cargo flight (B-757), carrying 35 tons of relief goods dispatched from Islamabad International Airport for Yangon, Myanmar. Upon arrival, the aid will be handed over to Myanmar’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Resettlement by the Pak Ambassador and Defense Attaché in Myanmar.

The aid consignment consisted of essential supplies which included approximately 565 tents, 210 tarpaulins, 2,000 blankets, 1 ton of ready-to-eat food, 0.5 tons of medicines and 10 water purification modules.
