Uzbek Oily Majlis Delegation Warmly Welcomed in Pakistan ! Speaker & Acting President for Enhancing Bilateral Cooperation

    ISLAMABAD : 29 Sep 2025 – A parliamentary delegation of Uzbekistan led by Speaker of Upper House of Legislative Assembly Nuriddin Ismoilov has arrived in Pakistan on a five-day visit. The delegation is visiting on the invitation of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. 

    Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by MNA/Convener of the Pak–Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), Syed Agha Rafiullah, along with senior officers of the National Assembly Secretariat.
    This visit forms a significant component of Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq’s Parliamentary diplomacy initiatives, which seek to reinforce Parliamentary cooperation and encourage meaningful dialogue among legislatures at the global level.
    It represents a vital step towards further strengthening political and Parliamentary relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, underpinned by their shared values, cultural affinities, and mutual respect.
    In meeting with Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the sides agreed to enhance bilateral parliamentary cooperation and people-to-people contacts.
    Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said parliamentary diplomacy is essential for peace, stability and development in the region. He mentioned that parliamentary delegations from Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Azerbaijan and Iran are also visiting Pakistan next month.
    The Speaker highlighted Gwadar and Karachi ports as vital gateways connecting Uzbekistan to global trade routes.
    The visiting dignitary, Nuriddin Ismailov said Pakistan’s diplomatic response during the recent Pak-India conflict is admirable. He said relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan are based on brotherhood, trust and mutual interest.

    Uzbekistan and Pakistan: Shared Cultural Heritage — A Bridge of Friendship for Centuries

    The delegation also called on Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani. The acting President said, Pakistan is committed to promote peace and prosperity in the region through economic cooperation and parliamentary ties.

    He noted that bilateral trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan has enhanced from twenty-seven million dollars to one hundred eleven million dollars. The Acting President said two countries aim to increase bilateral trade to two billion dollars in the next four years.

    He said the Trans-Afghan Railway project will connect Pakistan and Uzbekistan via Afghanistan and the successful completion of railway project will usher in a new era of regional connectivity, trade and prosperity.

    During the meeting, both sides also discussed bilateral relations, regional ties, economic cooperation, and the promotion of parliamentary ties.

    The sides described Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s recent successful visit to Tashkent as the beginning of a new era in the relations between the two countries.

    The visit will prove to be a milestone in further strengthening parliamentary relations and  connectivity between the two countries and promoting peace and stability in the region. Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations are based on mutual respect, cultural harmony and shared values.
