ISLAMABAD : Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez announced that Madrid will officially join a NATO initiative, called PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List), dedicated to the joint procurement and delivery of American weaponry for Ukraine.
According to Euroactive on October 23, Sánchez confirmed the decision ahead of the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels, stating Spain’s deep alignment with Western alliances and support for Kyiv.
He emphasized that Spain is “a country committed to the Atlantic Alliance and undoubtedly also committed to defending and supporting Ukraine at all levels.”
The Prime Minister noted that his government had been evaluating the alliance’s program for some time.
“We have been studying, logically, what joint purchases we can make during all these weeks since the NATO initiative was launched,” Sanchez stated.
Zelenskyy: The more long-range capabilities Ukraine has, the closer the end of the war
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that strengthening Ukraine’s long-range capabilities forces Russia to show readiness to end the war, and he reaffirmed the priority of developing the air defense system.
“The more long-range capabilities Ukraine has, the greater Russia’s willingness to end the war.
The past few weeks have once again confirmed this,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
